  11. Woman Is An Angel
Review: Always a tease, Levon Vincent chose to announce the release of his long-await debut album by drip-feeding information on social media. The subsequent meltdown among the online techno community may have been amusing to watch, but is testament to the Berlin-based New Yorker's impact over the last 10 years. Typically, concrete info has remained thin on the ground aside from the fact it stretches across some four slabs of vinyl and features a homage to Levon's cat Mona. Just before the physical copies were due for release, Vincent elected to give out the 11 track LP digitally for free so it's highly likely you know how it sounds already. If you are a true advocate of his output you'll want this quadruple wax edition! Next-level house and techno dedicated to the "ugly ducklings of the world"!

We Will Dance Together Again
Cat: NS 34. Rel: 28 Sep 21
  1. We Will Dance Together Again (Funky Levon live Jam) (14:35)
  2. Bells Phase (Phasing Tribal House) (10:51)
Review: During last year's extended pandemic-related lockdowns, Levon Vincent spent more time in his studio than he has in years. He's been releasing the results this year and plenty of people have (rightly) been impressed with the epic, analogue-rich jams Vincent has shared. His latest two tracker - the NYC producer's fifth of 2021 - continues in a similar vein to its predecessors. While confirmed fans will lap up flipside 'Bells Phase (Phasing Tribal House)' - a surging, slowly building affair that sees a chiming melody ride a scuzzy techno groove - it's the more musically expansive A-side, 'We Will Dance Together Again' that really hits the spot. A near 15-minute excursion that peppers a jacking machine groove with warming live keys, pulsating bass and lovely musical flourishes, it's one of Vincent'smost positive-sounding tracks to date.

Julius Caeser
Cat: NS 35. Rel: 17 Nov 21
  1. Julius Ceaser (9:03)
  2. Years Of Your Life (9:11)
Review: Novel Sound main man Levon Vincent returns to follow up a slew of releases this year, namely the terrific Enchanted Cosmos EP from a few months ago. On the A side of this one, you have the emotive and contemplative deepness of 'Julius Cease ' and its utterly hypnotic melody playing centre stage. Turn over to hear the dense bass and stirring drums on the sweaty basement jam 'Years Of Your Life' that's definitely on a vibe not too dissimilar from his 2009 classic 'Double Jointed Sex Freak'.

Enchanted Cosmos
Enchanted Cosmos (12" + insert)
Cat: NS 36. Rel: 11 Aug 21
  1. Enchanted Cosmos (13:30)
  2. Enchanted Cosmos (reprise) (9:41)
Review: Lately, Levon Vincent has begun to serve up especially long tracks. At the start of the year, he delivered the 14-minute techno opus 'Cyclops Trx', following it up with two more stretched-out dancefloor workouts ('Riding Alongside The Ocean' and 'So Good'). He's at it again on 'Enchanted Cosmos', a 13-minute slab of deep space techno in which echoing, dub techno style riffs ride a sweaty drum machine rhythm and a driving, acidic bassline. Turn to side B and you'll find the 'Reprise' mix, a stripped-back and even more mind-altering interpretation to adds glacial synth sounds and wilder acid lines to the long-serving producer's heavy techno beats.

Concrete Jungle
Cat: NS 38. Rel: 23 Jun 22
  1. Track 1 (7:11)
  2. Track 2 (6:31)
Review: Levon Vincent continues to serve up high-grade techno workouts on his own Novel Sound imprint, with releases appearing with little or no fanfare or fuss. Concrete Jungle, his latest two-tracker, is deliciously raw, fuzzy, weighty and sleazy, with Vincent's choise of sounds and arrangements conjuring mental images of late-night walks through high-rise housing projects. A-side 'Track 1' sees him build up a dense, sub-heavy, cymbal-rich techno groove featuring subtle nods to British bleep techno, onto which he then adds shimmering, life-affirming pads. 'Track 2' flips the script a little, with Vincent wrapping a dubby techno groove in metallic motifs, concrete-clad electronics and spaced-out effects. He rarely pits a foot wrong, but even by Vincent's high standards both tracks are excellent.

ETA Infinity
Cat: NS 37. Rel: 17 May 22
  1. ETA Infinity (Warm mix) (12:40)
  2. ETA Infinity (Frenzy mix) (11:17)
Review: Levon Vincent returns to his beloved Novel Sound imprint with a sturdy two-tracker here titled 'ETA Infinity', which is described as being reminiscent of 'Limelight-era NYC street techno beats'. On the A side, you've got the dubby, greyscale stomp of the Warm mix which is loaded directly off the factory floor - proper basement vibes on this one. Over on the flip is the linear and hypnotic redux of the Frenzy mix, letting that steely melodic bass line in the vein of classic Basic Channel lead the way.
