Akasha (3:10)
Sarah's Theme (Air) (3:55)
Past Life Regression (3:54)
Review: Andras Fox is a man of many different talents and aliases, and as A.R.T. Wilson he explores his most new age and ambient soundscapes. Originally conceived as the soundtrack to Rebecca Jensen and Sarah Aitken's contemporary dance piece 'Overworld', this record is at once tinged with an aching nostalgia for a time you probably never actually lived, but also hopeful visions for the future. The tunes are gorgeously airy and empty and unavoidably charming. Gentle rhythms, breaking waves, soft drum patter and sustained pads all add up to heavenly musical painting of idyllic and faraway beaches. The seven years in between this album being first put out and this new reissue have done nothing to diminish its naturalistic charms.

Review: Bailey's Nervous Kats was a teenage dream who combined surf, rock n' roll, exotica, and r&b in their music. They operated in the rural fringes of Northern California in the 1960s and released only one long player, sadly. The Nervous Kats is it and it now gets reissued by the quality Numero Group. It came right at the end of the band's time together and was released by the Emma imprint in 1965. It's a real doozy of the era and will take you to a time and place you didn't live but make you wish you had.

Come Back (2:26)
Review: Not to be confused with the contemporary songwriter Belles, 1960s Canadian soft rockers The Bells, 1980s British pop rockers The Belle Stars, or the seminal Detroit techno anthem by Jeff Mills, Numero Group invite you to step back in time and experience one of the best under-referenced 'response songs' of all time. Taking a lead from Them's 1965 hit 'Gloria', The Belles rework the format to sing about a guy they like. "M-E-L-V-I-I-I... M-E-L-V-I-N, Meeeeelllvviinn" the chorus kind of goes, backing track set to a lackadaisical, classic, jangling, looped rock 'n' roll stomp. Backed with the B-side, 'Come Back', which sets a lighter but brisker mood with its up tempo vocal quartet, delicate snare rolls and catchy six string chords, this is quite the trip to and through another era.

Duodu Wuo Ye Ya (short version) (5:05)
Review: Dan Boadi left his native Ghana to take his highlife sound to American audiences after he had his 1967 breakout debut 'Abrabo'. That was a regional hit and soon after came this tune which was recorded at Paul Serrano's studio in Chicago. It showcased the real breadth and depth of his sound as it called upon reggae, acrobat, halide and funk to demand your ear with a chugging drum groove. Add in the colourful orchestration that makes the tune soar and a you have a record that is a true musical melting pot that stood Boadi pat in his new home of the Windy City.

Review: The rather twee artwork of this album doesn't do the music justice (and anyway, back in those days it was standard practice as many albums used template covers as a way to cut costs of pressings.) Summer Brings The Sunshine is a glorious country rock album from the unwieldy location of Missouri which is where Jimmy Carter laid it down in amongst farmland. His own leads are backed by superb female backing singers, while his pedals do plenty of work and his feisty guitar licks make for some killer upbeat hooks. This is beautiful and cosmic American music that takes you stateside in an instant.

Review: Codeine were a short-lived band whose exacting nature and hyperpfocused craft, while cementing their early success in the early 1990s, might also have contributed to their downfall. Dessau was the band's second LP, and their last project to be released, before their split due to creative differences (the album was originally shelved). The eight-track album is nevertheless an early slowcore gem, packed with melodic elysia, colossal and crisp drumming, and revolutionary ideas for an emo renaissance.

Codeine - "Atmosphere" (4:52)
Bedhead - "Disorder" (4:55)
Review: Experience two of Joy Division's iconic post-punk tracks like never before with exclusive 7" vinyl from Numero Group. Codeine's 1994 rendition of 'Atmosphere' captures the essence of solitude with a melancholic yet melodic twist that marked the iconic Manchester band's poignant farewell. Meanwhile, Bedhead from Dallas offers a fresh perspective on 'Disorder' and transforms it into vibrant indie rock. Encased in a sleek black and silver sleeve adorned with embossed braille lettering, these twin readings pay homage to Joy Division's enduring legacy while inviting listeners to explore new interpretations of their timeless classics.

So Funny (2:26)
Review: Dimas Garza made his breakaway from The Royal Jesters in the mid '60s. His solo career was something of a reinvention under the new alias Dimas III and saw him record three singles for Clown, a label run, ironically, by The Jesters. They have all since become very hard to find and expensive records that are much sought after so it's great they now make it back to press courtesy of Numero Group. 'So Funny' and 'I Won't Love You Again' are both posse dup dee on this fine 45rpm and make for some steamy Southern soul. Somehow, Garza never broke out of his own locale but he did leave a great musical legacy.

You're All I Need (3:29)
Review: Numero Group has another of their superb soul gems here from former Mind & Matter bandmates James "Jimmy Jam" Harris and Michael Dixon. The duo teamed up in 1978 for this gospel-boogie banger which first came on the private Mad label, so is now mad hard to find. 'You're Everything' is a classy dancer with a big heart and those Good worshipping vocals taking things to new heights. The flip is no slouch either and keeps the grooves coming with 'You're All I Need' another timeless classic that will improve any set and record collection no end.

Sad Boys
Review: American rock band Duster aka multi-instrumentalists Clay Parton, Canaan Dove Amber, and Jason Albertini return with a fourth full length album that across 13 intimate tunes explores interplanetary goth sounds. It is a heartbroken record weighed down by heavy emotions as the aching synths, nagging drums and unresolved guitars linger in the air. Though sad and melancholic on the surface, the delicate nature and softness of these tunes is also striking beautiful in many cases. These are loner lullabies that encourage you to wallow in downbeat moods and come out the other side feeling refreshed and resolute.

Too Far Gone (radio edit) (4:32)
Everybody's Problem (radio edit) (5:00)
Review: This is one of those disco holy grails that doesn't even need to convince you of its worth, and its no surprise original copies have been so coveted for so long. Chicago's Magic Touch label was a low key affair, but jams like this ensure its impact remains strong to this day as LaJohn and Sheela lay down the feeling in no uncertain terms. 'Too Far Gone' is a smouldering, bittersweet track which deserves to reach as many soulful heads as possible, so this tasty remaster courtesy of Numero couldn't come soon enough.

Review: Branko Mataja manages to draw many comparison for his music, even though it is hugely original. Everything from Ennio Morricone's spaghetti western to the electrified belly dance sounds of Omar Khorshid via homemade 90s bedroom psychedelia colour his groves, which are enchanting and mystic. The artist hails from Belgrade, spent World War 2 in a German work camp and after escaping managed to live out his days in North Hollywood. He made his own guitars in the 1970s, which lends this music its charm, and taught himself to play in order to pay homage to his ancestral home of Yugoslavia.

I Remember You (2:52)
Review: American soul vocal group Pondersosa Twins Plus One was a group that had a huge impact on pop music, even though they didn't know it when they first started out. Their first official American 45rpm came in 1971 and this is a first ever official reissue of it from the good folks at Numero Group. Up first is the yearning 'Bound' with a lead vocal that returns the Jackson 5-era voice of Michael Jackson. On the flip is the equally enthralling and impassioned soul and funk of 'I Remember You.' A steamy 7" for sure.

Review: Numero's Cabinet of Curiosities series hits double figures here with a 10th essential outing packed with musical treasures. L80s: So Unusual is a brilliantly broad mix that heads to all corners of the world with a sublime mix of downtempo sounds that reach into "icy hot coldwave, Sausalito seafood jazz, Glaswegian goth, makeshift Madonna, Sade spoofs, and Brat Pack balearic." Eccentric Soul: The Saadia Label is collection of 15 of Saadia's funkiest and most deep and soulful jams from the years 1968 to 1970. It comes from talented names like Pearl Dowell, Joey Gilmore, Little Beaver and Frank Williams' Rocketeers and is a great source of gold for Das but also sample diggers. It is 20 years since the label did their first volume of the long-running Eccentric Soul series but all these years later it still bangs.

This particular compilation unearths rare gems from the Tragar and Note labels and offers a glimpse into the vibrant soul scenes of the 1960s and 1970s. From raw and gritty performances to polished and sophisticated arrangements, each track tells a unique story of love, loss, and perseverance. With soulful vocals, infectious grooves, and lush instrumentation, the album captures the essence of a bygone era while remaining relevant and compelling to contemporary listeners. Essentially, it's a treasure trove of forgotten classics waiting to be rediscovered.

Review: Resurfacing from obscurity after 58 years in the Louis Wayne Moody Pictures vault, this unearthed soundtrack unveils a treasure trove of melancholic melodies, mournful guitars, and eerie echoes. It is another of the seemingly endless gems to come from the great folks at Number Uno and is laden with themes of abandonment, shattered dreams, and existential ponderings. The album, titled They Move in the Night, weaves a narrative of moral ambiguity and tearful farewells, set against the backdrop of lukewarm diner coffee and the relentless pursuit of society's shadows. Fascinating stuff.

Review: Discovered after 55 years, the previously unreleased soundtrack to the 1964 noir film You're Not From Around Here finally emerges from the Louis Wayne Moody archive. Laden with twangy tremolo and reverb-drenched revenge, it navigates themes of alienation, paranoia, and existential echo. Packaged in a replica film canister with rusted varnishes and a debossed logo, it immerses you in a world of moral ambiguity. This Cabinet of Curiosities release by Numero delves into the esoteric possibilities of curation, weaving threads of intentionality and psychic connections through music history. It's a tribute to the DIY museum and the emotionally charged artifacts of post-industrial consumerism.
