Minimal/Tech House
Review: It's been a while since we last heard from deep cover tech house crew OdD, but finally they're back on their own label OdD Music. As demonstrated throughout their discography, the pairing of Damian Daley and Danny Dixon have a unique touch when it comes to their craft, edging a little bite and verve into their productions which is instantly more interesting than 90% of music in the close vicinity. Even the comparatively minimal '1m Pendulum' has more than enough intrigue in the looping phrases darting around the groove. 'Hotep' has an almost French micro house flavour to it, but with a little UK rudeness when it reaches the final third. 'Obelisk' takes the prize though, edging some genuinely moving keys into the mix across a long form, live-feeling techno trip-out.

The Hexachord EP (180 gram vinyl 12")

Minimal/Tech House
Pythagorean
Do-re-me
Solfeggio
Review: Following from their welcome bounce back with the D Construction EP, London-based duo OdD are at it again with The Hexachord EP. Their strain of minimal tech house has a raw, percussive focus which champions the power of the drums, whipping up interwoven rhythms aimed squarely at the floor and nowhere else. 'Pythagorean' opens up this new set from the duo in a cascading patter of big and small sounds all pushed along by a nagging hat. 'Do-re-me' nestles down into a subtly dubbed groove, and 'Solfeggio' revels in the nagging funk of a broken kick rhythm and some woozy pad action for a deep destroyer of the classiest kind.

Drum Technology (8:10)
Dutty Drum Skin (7:39)
Squiggle & Flam (6:30)
Review: Following a various artists release that featured the likes of Loopdeville and Innominate, OdD are back in the saddle for the fourth release on their label as they spread their wings within the busy world of minimal house music. On "Drum Technology" the concept sounds complete, from the ethereal pad tones to the impeccably crafted beat, packing enough movement to let the insistent jam roll on blissfully for as long as it pleases. "Dutty Drum Skin" meanwhile revels in a more sinister headspace, keeping up the finely chiselled beats but letting a more ominous brand of drone linger in the background of the mix. "Squiggle & Flam" lives up to its name and gets all wriggly around its slickly shuffling beat, while the looped up synth refrains maintain the twitchy feeling perfectly.
