Something From The Chiffonier EP
Cat: PTN 017. Rel: 10 May 21

Minimal House/Tech House
Something From The Chiffonier (6:33)
Turbo Grill (6:35)
Badgers Crossing (6:03)
Global Positioning System (6:09)
Review: As clubs are on the verge of reopening, this is exactly the sort of tackle many DJs will be looking to fill this bags with. It's charismatic music with colour and a slightly unhinged feeling but also with seriously well designed grooves. Bowyer is the young and obviously talented producer behind the music and opener 'Something From The Chiffonier' is a classy party starter with the best name ever. The subtly joyous, playful but heady sounds continue on the more wonky 'Turbo Grill' and 'Badgers Crossing' then cuts loose on wild drum snaps, molten synths and acid prickles before 'Global Positioning System' locks you into a straight up tech house banger.

Let Loose
Review: Anthea welcomes Spanish producer C.R.U.Z. onto the roster. C.R.U.Z.'s live jam arrangements lend well to the overarching mood of toxico-apocalyptic rave here; the 'Secuencias Del Tiempo Perdido' EP contorts to every logical end of acid twinge and direct-current frisson. The darker ends of things are heard on the likes of 'Pensamiento Geometrico' and 'Hospital Del Mar', while a subtler, albeit surreal Italo mood is heard peeking through on '80sLoveParade'.

Paradox EP
Cat: PTN 005. Rel: 18 Sep 17

Techno
Prejudice (7:09)
Sunday (5:43)
Bisous (5:49)
Review: Berlin's Anthea first came through back in the late '00s, offering a deep and silky strain of tech-minded house that bridged the gap between house and techno. Over the years, she's crafted a very particular sound, one which she has mentored other rising producers with, and the fruits of her labour can now be heard through her excellent Partisan imprint. Newcomer Fern is the latest young gun-slinger to make it on this catalogue, coming through with the three-tiered Paradox EP. "Prejudice" opens the A-side with a bouncy, intricately assembled house nugget swamped in starry melodic patterns, whereas "Sunday" unleashes a much more beat-driven bullet of a groove for the minimal headz. "Bisous" engulfs the whole of the B-side in rickety, off-kilter percussion swings and bumpy kick drum patterns, tying this EP up in what will hopefully be a a sound that we'll hear more of in the coming months.

Sunrise In Ukraine EP
Cat: PTN 023. Rel: 13 Mar 24

Minimal House/Tech House
Explore The Universe (14:05)
003000009 (14:05)
Sunrise In Ukraine (6:42)
Rosco (6:15)
Review: Partisan is back in action with more of that crafty electro-tinged minimal pushed by label founder Anthea in her razor-sharp DJ sets. Ildec is at the helm for this new release on the label, employing his considerable array of synths and applying them to punchy, infectious workouts for the club while maintaining a necessary sense of fun. '003000009' is a cheekily spooky cut primed for those moments you want to creep the dancefloor out a little, while 'Sunrise In Ukraine' is a bouncy, acidic joint to get bodies jacking deep into the night.

Hochbetrieb (6:41)

Radical Ambient (5:05)
Lakeside Trouble (4:43)
H (4:08)
Review: The fourth release on Partisan is something of an epic, with German producer Segej Kaschawar serving up nine tracks over two solid slabs of wax. There's much to admire throughout, from the dark web-goes-tech-house throb of opener "Resonate" and funk-fuelled late night dancefloor hustle of "Zero Gravity", to the Drexciyan electro bounce of "Orbitbass" and the low-slung shuffle of "Lakeside Trouble", where spacey motifs and wonky electronics cluster around a swinging, broken techno groove. Also worth checking is the pitched-down, acid-flecked IDM psychedelia of closer "D3H" and the angular, UK garage-influenced deepness of "Radical Ambient" (which is so radical that it's not ambient at all).

Shadowbox (6:07)
Love For Sale (7:20)
Floating (6:35)
13th Planet (6:53)
Review: Lamalice and Smooth Operators combine forces for their second split EP, delivering four tracks of sparse, spitty and juddering techno. The French producers strut their production stuff across four track spaces shared equally between them; 'Shadowbox' and 'Love For Sale' are sloshy and glassy kaleidoscopes in the mode of minimal-ish garage house, while the B's 'Floating' and '13th' up the emotional ante by pushing the stylistic viewfinder somewhere between new wave and tinkery electro.

Minimal House/Tech House
Planet Pan (6:33)
Divenire (7:50)
Any Robots Here (6:51)
Point Of View (5:17)
Review: It's becoming something of a cliche to describe tech-house tracks as "bouncy", but there's no denying that "Planet Pan", the lead cut from Giammarco Orsini's latest EP, is rubbery and boisterous. The drum track and bassline both doff a cap to the skipping grooves of 4.4 UK garage, though the musical elements surrounding them - spacey chords, bleeping melody lines, and so on - both scream "techno". Elsewhere, the experienced Italian producer melds undulating TB-303 acid lines with a smooth, Motor City influenced tech-house groove on "Divenire", before layering robotic electronics and minor key chords on top of sprightly drum machine beats on pleasing B-side workout "Any Robots Here".

Regression Progression EP
Cat: PTN 012. Rel: 01 Mar 19

Minimal House/Tech House
Italia 90 (6:17)
Achimal (6:44)
The Regresser (6:43)
Dmorning (5:59)
Review: This time last year Giammarco Orsini was impressing us via a tidy twelve-inch on Elephant Moon that confidently sashayed between groovy deep house and spacey, far-sighted tech-jazz. There's a slightly different feel to the producer's latest EP for Partisan; a four-track set that aptly showcases the diversity of Orsini's influences and inspirations. Check, for example, the poignant chords and lilting deep space melodies that stretch out over the punchy machine drums and bubbly acid bass of "Dmorning" and the sub-bass-heavy tech-jack deepness of "The Regresser". Elsewhere you'll find rubbery retro-futurism (the elastic synth bass, dream house pianos, gentle acid lines and whistling chords of EP opener "Italia 90") and snappy, funk-fuelled acid/tech-house fusion ("Achimal"). Superb stuff all told.

Inner Dimension EP

Techno
Inner Dimension (7:34)
Space Gate (7:04)
Future Classic (8:02)
Review: Following a couple of acclaimed outings for Yoyaku's growing stable of labels, Molly Oshana heads back to Anthea Nzekwu's Partisan imprint. There's much to enjoy from start to finish, with Oshana serving up rock solid club jams tailor made for late nights and early mornings. There's a deliciously riotous feel to opener "Inner Dimension", a thrusting techno stomper built around a druggy synthesizer arpeggio lines, intergalactic electronics and bombastic drums. Elsewhere, she opts for a deeper, rolling tech-house vibe, first on the locked-in, deep space shuffle of "Space Gate", and then via the heavy sub-bass, glitchy percussion hits and drowsy chords of "Future Classic".

Minimal House/Tech House
Accelerator (7:31)
Day 21 (7:35)
Arcadia (7:35)
Review: After setting her stall out via occasional releases over a number of years, Molly Oshana has really kicked on in 2016. Here she delivers the debut release on the Partisan label, serving up a trio of club-ready cuts. She sets her stall out with the fizzing but rolling, vintage tech-house style bubbler "Accelerator", before fusing hazy chords, spitting electronics and chunky, locked-in beats on the futurist techno roller "Day 21". Best of all, though, is flipside "Arcadia", where stylish vocal snippets and lo-fi synth flourishes ride a dirty bass-propelled drum machine groove.

Edge Of Impact (5:14)
Lost Nation (5:30)
Such Doses (5:37)
Odd Job (5:45)
Radio Waves (5:32)
Review: The Partisan label continues to explore the in between areas that exist next to tech, minimal, and electro on this punchy five tracker from PH Project. There is a clipped and militant marching feel to opener 'Lost Nation' with its dark leads and brushed metal drum textures. 'Edge Of Impact' takes a tight and punchy trip through the stars on bumping bass and alien sound effects and 'Such Doses' then hits harder, with nice stiff drum programming and flappy snares underpinned by rasping and rugged bass. 'Odd Job' and 'Radio Waves' bring more electro-learning workouts.
