Faerie Stomp
Cat: PE 012. Rel: 05 Aug 20
Techno
  1. Faerie Stomp (6:47)
  2. Faerie Stomp (Enchanted mix) (5:52)
  3. Faerie Stomp (Ludwig AF Haunted mix) (7:56)
  4. Faerie Stomp (Adam Pits Undergrowth mix) (5:28)
Review: While D Tiffany's Planet Euphorique label has always embraced the more psychedelic end of the electronic music spectrum, this debut EP from Psychedelic Budz - a collaboration between the label founder and fellow trippy techno traveller Ciel - is the most expressively hallucinatory record it has released to date. In its original form, "Faerie Stomp" is a wonderfully squelchy, acid-fired trip into '90s tech-trance territory that sounds like the kind of thing that Ewoks would listen to in order to free their minds at five in the morning. The pair's more percussive and spaced-out "Enchanted Mix" is, if anything, even better. Elsewhere, Ludwig AF's remix doffs a multi-coloured jester's hat to the Psychic Warriors Ov Gaia, while Adam Pitts turns the track into a psychedelic techno stomper.

Review: Over the last couple of years, Aussie Katie Campbell has delivered a string of well-regarded EPs and 12" singles steeped in retro-futurist flavours. Here she delivers here most expansive release to date, a double-pack that officially counts as the Roza Terenzi debut album. Her usual aural trademarks are all present - think deep bass, dreamy synths, fluttering electronic melodies, euphoric melodic motifs, breakbeats and bustling beats that are anything but conformist - alongside nods towards turn-of-the-90s techno, weighty electro rhythms and snappy, ghetto-house inspired workouts. It's undeniably a Roza Terenzi release, and there's enough variety - coupled with smart sequencing - to make it hang together as an album. Oh, and bass-heavy, Bleep-inspired closer "My Reality Cheque Bounced" is one of the best things Campbell has released to date.

Mobile Sorcery
Mobile Sorcery (heavyweight vinyl 12")

Bass
  1. Broke Melt (5:14)
  2. Sorcery (7:17)
  3. Sorcery (bonus beats) (4:56)

  5. Wilder's Lake (5:52)
Review: Canadian producer Levi Bruce (aka Unknown Mobile) has contributed to several North American labels in recent times such as Young Adults, Normals Welcome and Pacific Rhythm, but this one for hometown heroes Planet Euphorique could be one of his most promising efforts yet. Of the five tracks featured here on "Mobile Sorcery", we were captivated by the off-kilter falling acid of "Broke Melt", the post-UK bass street sound mutations of "Sorcery", and hypnotic B side cut "Heavenly Depression" which goes into a tribal trance.
