Silverlining Dubs (IV) (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: SVD 004 . Rel: 03 Jul 17
Deep House
  1. The Inhabitants - "Truth & The Lie" (feat Jayson Walker - Silverlining dub)
  2. Dog With The Groove Of Lights - "G-Spot" (Silverlining dub)
  3. The Mingers - "Emancipation" (Silverlining remix)
Review: The London underground house and techno stalwart continues to explore his cult Silverlining project with gusto, this time around taking the immersive, dubby sound into new pastures with fresh remixes of lesser known tracks. First up is The Inhabitants, whose catchy vocal cut "The Truth & The Lie" gets a lean rub down with ample space in the mix, before "G-Spot" by Dog With The Groove Of Lights gets buffed up into a driving yet supremely deep workout for peak time play. The Mingers' " emancipation" is quite possibly the stand out on the record, creating the perfect stripped-down groove and then dropping the slinkiest baseline into the mix with the classy touch we've come to expect from him.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Silverlining - "Breezin Thru" (7:24)
  2. Doodlebug - "Loose In Your Mind" (Silverlining remix) (7:03)
Review: Yet more gems from the Silverlining studio, this time turning to the much sought after "Breezin Thru" track originally released in 1998. This is a true classic from the golden era of tech house, rooted in the London scene defined by the likes of Terry Francis and the like, and yet it sounds like it could have been made yesterday. The strident, upfront beat and immersive atmospheric shimmers are pure dancefloor gold. On the flip, Andy Blake and Dave Coker's Doodlebug project gets the remix treatment, winding up as crafty electro breaks with a tilt towards the deep end of the dance.

Deep House
  1. A Paradoxical Insistance
  2. Turn, Turn, Turn
Review: London's Silverlining turns in another two underground bombs on this sought-after label, this time with two tracks never released before on vinyl. "A Paradoxical Insistance" is fresh from 2018, with his trademark skip and depth, while "Turn, Turn, Turn" employs the spoken-word talents of Canada's Effluence with trippy bleeps and cavernous stabs. Like all releases on the label, the tracks have been mastered to tape, and cut onto deliciously chunky 180g vinyl.

Deep House
  1. Nanoschnitzel
  2. Eye In The Sky
  3. Munticles
Review: Silverlining continues to explore the depth and breadth of his sound with the sixth instalment in the Silverlining Dubs series, and this record in particular leads in with the crafty, metal-plated electro of "Nanoschnitzel". It's a beautifully crafted jam that aligns with the current swell of electro exploration taking place in all corners of the scene, and it contrasts sharply with the bumping house structure of "Eye In The Sky". "Munticles" finishes the EP off with a consummate demonstration of tough-edged tech house fundamentals, all nagging groove and curious textures making for the perfect floor fuel.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Invisible Ink (7:16)
  2. Lessons In Jerboa (6:06)
  3. The 99 Year Wait (6:24)
  4. Devotion (7:43)
Review: Asad Rizvi's trips back into immersive shimmer and rock solid grooves of his Silverlining alias continue apace with this eighth clutch of club-ready workouts for the tech house classicists out there. "Invisible Ink" is a supremely dubbed out affair, but not at the expense of the peppy rhythm section, while "Lessons In Jerboa" makes it all about the drums with a killer swinging snare rattle to get the dancefloor freaking. "The 99 Year Wait" is a taut, wriggly tech workout that gets right to the point and stays there, and then "Devotion" finishes the record on a tender, melodious ambient tip.
