Another View (feat Inga Mauer, The Golden Filter mixes)
Cat: SC&P 003. Rel: 25 Sep 17
Coldwave/Synth
  1. Another View
  2. Together In The Dark
  3. Together In The Dark (Inga Mauer remix)
  4. Another View (The Golden Filter Revision)
Review: Snap, Crackle & Pop does the business once again as Berlin-based producer Curses steps up with the distinctly 1980s new wave stylings of "Another View". It's the kind of track that will have lovers of early The Cure, Sisters Of Mercy et al dancing in a hazy fever dream where early goth and indie meets with contemporary beats. "Together In The Dark" makes the point even clearer with a brooding trip through languid guitar, beyond the grave vocals and scuffed drums. Inga Mauer takes an entirely different tact with her remix of the latter track, conjuring up a particularly chilling acid daemon to jangle the nerves before The Golden Filter spook out "Another View" with heavy doses of reverb.

Disorder (feat Bezier & The Field mixes)
Cat: SC&P 002. Rel: 08 May 17
Coldwave/Synth
  1. Disorder (5:07)
  2. Viideo Dreams (4:00)
  3. Unknown (4:53)
  4. Unknown (Bezier remix) (7:32)
  5. Disorder (The Field remix) (7:02)
Review: Junto Club kicked off Snap Crackle & Pop late last year, and now the label returns with the debut solo release from London-based outfit DEEDS. While Rollo and Kiri Inglis may have previously popped up on an obscure compilation on Anti-Ghost Moon Ray, this record should see their coldwave sound shoring up with many more adventurous listeners. "Video Dreams" is a beautifully melancholic slice of electronica while "Unknown" reaches for euphoric heights. Remixes from Bezier and The Field round the record out as a wonderful exercise in emotive home listening electronics for sensitive souls.

Sholay (Kris Baha/Multiple Man Sniffing Anxiety mixes)
Cat: SC&P 007. Rel: 02 Mar 20
Techno
  1. Sholay (7:20)
  2. Negative Space (5:50)
  3. Sholay (Kris Baha remix) (6:17)
  4. Negative Space (Multiple Man Sniffing Anxiety remix) (6:20)
Review: Mondowski lands on Snap Crackle & Pop with the wonderful hybrid track "Sholay", which has a whiff of electroclash mixed with spookier gothic influences and something a little more transcendental. As such, it's easy to picture this track getting love in all kinds of darkened corners of the dance. "Negative Space" is a more overtly clubby track, all nervy rhythm twitches and low-frequency synth grind with a generous dose of minimal wave influence at its core. It's no surprise to see the ever-prolific Kris Baha dropping a slick industro-sleaze version of "Sholay", while Multiple Man's "Sniffing Anxiety" take on "Negative Space" is just as essential for those who can't pack enough grimy club grinders into their bag.

Disco Monroe (Khidja, MR TC remixes)
Cat: SC&P 006. Rel: 15 Apr 19
Coldwave/Synth
  1. Quebec / Makolet (6:19)
  2. Disco Monroe (6:48)
  3. Quebec / Makolet (Khidja remix) (7:00)
  4. Disco Monroe (MR TC remix) (6:08)
Review: Niv Ast only has one other release to their name, a self-released album that landed no less than five years ago. Now Snap, Crackle & Pop have tapped up the mysterious producer for a striking record that matches modern 4/4 styles with new wave grit, leading in with the seriously moody "Quebec / Makolet". "Disco Monroe" has a slower tempo to appeal to the chugger crowd, with a seductive French vocal hovering over the top of the steady trucking rhythm section. Khidja tackles "Quebec / Makolet" on the flip, injecting some spaced out processing into the original to create an otherworldly version that does a great service to the source material. Mr TC then pings "Disco Monroe" out into a heavily dubbed hinterland, where the delay feedback and reverb decays rain down heavy over a slow, fractured beat.

Chain Store (Manfredas & Mondowski remixes)
Cat: SC&P 004. Rel: 08 Jan 18
Coldwave/Synth
  1. Chain Store
  2. Nowhere To Nowhere
  3. Popcorn
  4. Chain Store (Manfredas remix)
  5. Nowhere To Nowhere (Mondowski remix)
Review: After equally wonderful turns from Junto Club, Deeds and Curses!, emergent deviant disco denizens Snap Crackle & Pop invite a band called Uncanny Valley to offer up their unique brand of deathly wave music shot through with on-point beyond the grave vocals. "Chain Store" is a nightmarish march through wobbly synths while "Nowhere To Nowhere" plots a strident course with its bouncing beat and fulsome, undulating bass. "Popcorn" flips the script with its uptempo thrust, but the vintage synth-pop threads are still the dominant force in the music. Manfredas drops a remix of "Chain Store" that maintains the freakiness with a slow but heavy house lurch, and then Mondowski strips the meat from "Nowhere To Nowhere" and leaves a potent, skeletal club treatment behind.
