Review: Kerri Chandler is one of house music's longest serving and finest producers, having put out classic soulful and deep records since the early 90s (from "Get It Off" in 91 through to last year's timeless "Bar A Thym"). On "Oblivion" Chandler lays down a piece of deep, percussive house (almost 10 minutes in length) that boasts a spoken male vocal discussing pretenders to house producer status and where they fall down - a track and theme that will find massive favour on more underground floors. Formats come complete with a vocal version and a slightly tougher dub that should prove a big one for fans of the darker side of Kerri's sound (think his recent "Bar A Thym" and "So Let The Wind Come" tracks). "Oblivion" is lifted from Kerri's just released Soul Heaven album on which he collaborated with another hot house producer, Dennis Ferrer, on a collection of deep soulful grooves and jackin' beats. This is the Soul Heaven imprint's fifth single release, coming on the back of the success of scene favourites Peven Everett "Stuck", The MuthaFunkaz "I Don't Want You Anymore" and Soul Central's "Bonafide".

Review: It's been some 12 years since San Francisco deep house don Miguel Migs released his fine debut album, Colorful You. In truth, his subsequent albums have failed to match the dizzy heights attained by this Naked Music-era beauty. It's for this reason that Dim Division is such an enjoyable listen. In it, Migs - assisted by an impressive line-up of guest vocalists (including Tim Fuller, Lisa Shaw and Omar) - returns to his roots, laying down a series of effortlessly soulful tracks blessed with his usual dub-flecked deep house production, shimmering electrofunk influences and vibrant synthesizer riffs. It's a thing of simple beauty, and undoubtedly his best work for some time.
