Review: There's no complex concept behind the latest four-track EP from the reliable Whiskey Disco camp, just a quartet of killer re-edits crying out for peak-time plays. Highlights wise, we're particularly enjoying the hard-spun Afro-disco grooves and well-placed dub delays of Alex Zuiev's "Afro Magic", though Alkalino's quirky opener - a thrillingly dubbed-out take on a tongue-in-cheek, left-of-centre disco treat - is also superb. Elsewhere, Love Drop sticks heavy new house beats underneath a stone cold classic (listen to the clips and you'll be able to identify the source material in seconds), while Terrence Pearce crafts a space-disco epic out of undulating Afro-disco grooves, bleeping synth melodies and some seriously cosmic effects.
Review: Will Buck makes his bow on Whiskey Disco after appearing on sister label Lovedancing (with PRTMNTO) on the Soul Sides EP ?last year. Buck is in fine form again on this new offering, opening with the infectious groove of "21212" (listen out for a familiar hook that has been respliced to perfection) - topped with a killer brass section, too! Elsewhere on the EP, move to the sexy late-night deep house of "Touch Down", sultry vocal disco on "Make Your Move" and the aptly titled after-hours shuffle of "Harmony (6AM Mix)", reworked by label head honcho Sleazy McQueen himself.

Review: Sleazy McQueen presents another wicked serving of Disco deviance on the always reliable Whiskey Disco. The North Carolina based imprint's 57th edition gives us four more surefire disco edits by the likes of Tony Chocoloney from Melbourne, Australia who gives us some funked-up soulpower on "Less Groove", Ukrainian Alex Zuiev gives us a loungey kinda something' on the tres chic "Valentina" and Anthony Mansfield delivers an unrepentant use of sleek filter sweeps throughout the slo-mo antics of "It's Too Late" featuring a bit of help from good buddy DJ M3.
Review: Having made his name with a string of fine rework releases on the acclaimed Tugboat Edits imprint, Guillermo "Hotmood" Gonzalez makes his first appearance on Whiskey Disco. Disco De Los Muertos ("Disco of the dead", if our Spanish is up to scratch) is predictably full of cheeky dancefloor moments that should appeal to both house and disco DJs alike. Our pick of the bunch is probably the low-slung "Playing The Groove For An Hour", where fizzing synth stabs ride a ridiculously rubbery slap bass riff and rolling house groove. That said, the deeper and dreamier "The Camel" is rather good, while the horror-tinged Mexican funk-goes-house fare stretched across the A-side is both rock solid and highly playable.
Review: Whiskey Disco's latest fun-time excursion comes courtesy of Kayroy, a Melbourne-based producer who has never before released music on vinyl. As wax debuts go, "Pavlova Casanova" is very strong, with the up-and-coming producer serving up a quartet of heavy peak-time disco treats. Particularly potent is raging A-side "Like Damn!", an all-action affair that stretches out and beefs up a killer old chunk of high-tempo disco with audible Latin flourishes. Title track "Pavlova Casanova" is a slightly sweeter but no less thrilling affair crafted from what sounds like a familiar disco staple, while "Sandy Shackles" gets just the right balance between guitar-flecked disco sweetness, dubby boogie brilliance and rolling peak-time house.
Review: From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts. On the A side we have the one and only Osmose: DJ, digger, sound designer & producer but most of all: the originator of the Osmose Sound 7" Vinyl Record Stabilizer. He throws down some late night, deep down boogie business (on the very soulful tip) for the A side. On the flip, Thoma Cher makes his debut with some neon lit 80s disco vibes on "All You Need" while "Fright Night" is more on the Italo angle.
Review: A double dose of goodness here, as Whiskey Disco regulars Pontchartrain and thatmanmonkz serve up two tasty new re-edits apiece. It's the former who handles side A. He begins with the breezy, tropical-sounding disco stomp of "La Magie" - all punchy horns, classic disco bass, fizzing synth lines and glassy-eyed female vocals - before brilliantly reworking a suitably obscure disco/jazz-funk instrumental (the suitably spacey "Hey Mariposa"). Arguably even better is "Luh Me On Mi Celly", the low-slung, stretched-out dub disco revision that counts as thatmanmonkz's first contribution to the EP. His second, "Radiation Steppa", is a fizzing, synth-heavy disco-boogie number blessed with passionate male group vocals.
Review: Bottoms up! The Silver Rider and the Funk District saddle up for a two-way trip on the latest Whiskey Disco joint. Texan transdimensional traveller Silver Rider steps up for the A with a main course and a punchy side plate. "Woman" is a big War-style disco funk piece with precision spoken vocals and horns while "Hustle Up" is a stripped back wriggling bassline DJ tool guaranteed to disarm. Flip for the B to a trip into the heart of Mexico as the Funk District fires heated shots: "Imaki Ra Reo" is straight up Latin disco while "The Root Of Evil" takes us on an African International adventure for a stunning afrobeat finale.

Review: Whiskey Disco's first missive of 2018 is something of a sweaty beast, with a quartet of producers stepping up to deliver some sticky dancefloor heat. Label chief Sleazy McQueen joins forces with Vagabundo Social Club on A-side edit "Boh!", a slamming rework of a Bohannon-esque disco-funk jam rich in hard guitar riffs and crunchy Clavinet lines. The Rejected takes a different approach on the flipside, serving up a rolling, delay-laden tweak of celebratory, soccer-themed Brazilian club jam "O Craque De Futbol". Sunny, funky and low-slung, it's accompanied on side B by the gently housed-up swamp funk of Pontchartrain's "Have a Little Taste". Given the quality of the EP, we're more than happy to follow that instruction.
Review: Sheffield-based East Midlander Scott "Thatmanmonkz" Moncrieff takes a break from delivering dusty deep house twelves to serve up some sizzling-hot re-edits on Whiskey Disco. The Shadeleaf Music founder begins strongly, first slicing, dicing and dubbing a sax-heavy, disco-funk floor-filler ("Gimme Skin"), before exploring impassioned, soul-fired disco-funk pastures on the chorus-heavy "Yuh Can Ged It". The fun continues on the flip side, where Moncrieff underpins a lolloping disco groove with subtle house drums on "Shek Dat". Fittingly, he saves the best till last, reaching for the filters on a soaring edit of a spiraling disco workout that sounds like a peak-time anthem in the making. As they'd say in the Steel City, "Tha nailed it, pal".
Review: Since contributing a debut cut to Whiskey Disco's multi-artist "Disco Darling" EP in 2015, Vincenzo De Bull has gone on to contribute tracks to similar 12" singles on Queen and Disco and Kolour Ltd. This is the producer's first solo salvo and it's well worth picking up, not least for the loopy, filter rich disco-house celebration that is peak-time smasher "Champ 1". The fun continues elsewhere across the EP, from the smooth, boogie-goes-house sensuality of "In Love", to the rubbery bounce of "That Same Old Feeling", a chunky revision of a dewy-eyed disco-funk number full of rolling beats, tactile vocal samples and crunchy Clavinet lines.
Review: Matlock maestro Ant Plate (he of Rhythm Plate fame) has been turning out edits, reworks and original productions under the alternate YSE Saint Laur'Ant alias for the best part of a decade. His release rate has slowed of late, though, with this Whiskey Disco outing marking his first release for almost a year. The material on offer is very strong, particularly lolloping opener "Just As Bad As You", a head-nodding revision of a Hammond-sporting soul jam that combines samples from an obscure 1970s cut with subtle new instrumentation. Other EP highlights include the gospel/dub disco fusion of bongo-riffic flipside opener "I Know I've Been Changed" and the percussive, jazzy, slow motion bumper "New York Paris", a killer groove marked out by layered congas, ear-catching double bass and fuzzy, post-punk style horns.
Review: Sleazy McQueen's always reliable Whiskey Disco is back with its 61st edition, featuring Ukrainian editor Alex Zuiev. The man from Mariupol first appeared on the label back in 2017 and he's become a staple of sorts - as this will be his fourth for the Florida based imprint, in addition to appearances on Editorial, FKR and Spare Change. The Flying Objects EP features the rowdy late night disco of "Trenitalia" which is sure to get the crowd dancing on the ceiling, while on the flip prepare to get deep down and dirty on the lo-slung oddity of "Soul Fire" - which is perfect for late hours.
