Wushu Hand EP
Cat: WPR 027. Rel: 14 Nov 17

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
Wushu Hand (4:26)
2 Worlds (4:01)
Silence Soundboy (4:03)
Pablo (3:44)
Review: Last seen blowing us kisses on Pearly Whites, the London deepsmith touches down on White Peach with four fittingly juicy bass jams. "Wushu Hands" flickers with eastern instrumental elements over a tightly rolled jitter-prone kick/snare combo, "2 Worlds" strips us right back to our undergarments with only a spacious drum arrangement and groaning bassline to keep us warm, "Silence Soundboy" is a beautifully simple bassline affair where the low end is given lavish expanses of room to roam and mutate. Finally "Pablo" pays tribute with eerie cinematic textures, weeping lead lines and a wicked sense of unease. Sound.

Koshi (6:04)
Sippin' (4:09)
Slap (6:09)
Review: White Peach bringing the juicy freshness once again... This time Bristol duo De Tu step up with three slabs of uncut mysticism. "Koshi" takes the lead with alluring pipes, a loose clanky beat and a vibe so introspective you'll feel you're turning inside out. "Sippin'" extolls the virtue of moderation over an iced grime hybrid, all tricky snare rolls and wild pitch vox. "Slap" brings us into submission with tightly plucked steel strings, a big belly bass tone and more loose limbed drum work. Joie de tu vivre.

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
Oyuki (4:00)
You Don't (5:35)
Empress (4:01)
Ro$e Gold (5:13)
Review: Stockholm's Eva808 returns to the ever-juicy White Peach with her first full EP for the label. Following the damage and soul exploding sounds of her Encrypted EP last year, once again it's a woozy unpredictable affair: "Oyuki" is a seasick damager with its warped textured and slurring momentum while the string-snapping "Empress" is straight out of Hitchcock's playbook. "Ro$e Gold" and "You Don't" play perfect counterpoint as hazier soft-focus antidotes to her peaktime venom. The former is like being in a church under the sea while "You Don't" is like having honey poured in your ears. TIP.

Peach Bits Vol 5
Cat: WPR 020. Rel: 26 Apr 17

Deep Dubstep
Fallow & Alex Compton - "String Assassin" (3:49)
Kaido - "Kennedy Bridge" (4:27)
Zha - "Without" (3:47)
Nakes - "Moksha" (4:02)
Review: White Peach's admirable Peach Bits series, which draws together previously unreleased gems from the label's growing roster of artists, has reached its fifth volume. While previous volumes have largely aimed squarely at the dancefloor, this edition is more eclectic in outlook. Compare, for example, the paranoid, exotic darkness of Kaido's deep dubstep rattler "Kennedy Bridge" and the Eastern mysticism - via the Spanish Riviera - of Zha's "Without", which pairs gentle dubstep rhythms with lilting Japanese melody lines and flamenco guitar flourishes. Or, for that matter, the drowsy, post-rock-meets-dubstep haze of Fallow and Alex Compton's "String Assassin", and the blissfully exotic, almost Balearic melodies of Nakes' thrillingly positive dubstep shuffler "Moksha".

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
3 Tabs (4:26)
Appropriation (5:08)
IPA (3:46)
Post Modern Dub (4:46)
Review: Dutch dubsmith Hebbe continues to stride through the year of his life with another exceptional expedition; hot on the heels of his DUPLOC vinyl launch comes this far reaching four piece on the perennial White Peach imprint; "3 Tabs" is a dramatic piece of eastern theatre with big licks and surprises while "Appropriation" continues an eastern theme but on much more pensive, graveyard swagger. Flip for the beautifully wonked out trembles and dirge drones of "IPA" before "Post Modern Dub" closes with a mournful mildly wobbled salute. Far out finesse.

Renegade EP

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
Renegade (3:18)
Nightcrawler VIP (4:03)
Hands Up (3:46)
Thugz (3:24)
Review: We've been calling him this for a while behind his back but we'll just come out with it now... Sukh Knight is officially the "Renegade" master and these gully whip-slaps are proof. "Renegade" (a long-demanded dubplate this year) hits hard with Sukh's gruff, brash funk while the VIP of "Nightcrawler" subverts in all the right places. Deeper into the EP we glide for a little eastern grit while as both "Hands Up" and "Thugz" touch down in Mumbai for gnarly nuances of Bollywood badness. Back once again!

Beast (3:23)
Nightcrawler (4:02)
Review: Sukh Knight on White Peach. The stars really have aligned on this one. White Peach's penchant for innovative newness and Sukh's nose for rolling funk that's rooted in the late 2000s style while never looking nostalgic or like its covering old ground: you already know how good this is. "Beast" is the deeper roller of the pair with its pneumatic, well-oiled rhythm flowing like lava and the bass purring beneath. "Nightcrawler" is an instant banger with its ruffage sandpaper riff providing dry gully slaps and cheeky grime bass ping-pongs on the ones and fours. Classic Sukh. Classic White Peach.

Arrival (3:17)
Barcode (5:01)
Missing Amsterdam (2:55)
Tasteful (feat Rygby) (3:46)
Review: Chonk Mob familia Koma joins the gang at White Peach with this far-out four-piece that showcases his broadest and most considered range. "Arrival" sets the scene with big cinematic pads, arpeggiated pipes and a mood that gets deeper and darker the more you stride into it. "Missing Amsterdam", meanwhile, shows a calmer Koma as we mooch to poignant chimes in the most contemplative way. Finally, the bashy steel drum twister "Tasteful" plays the consummate pudding course as Koma and fellow Chonkster Rygby serve up the final course of this exceptional feast. Koma back soon.

Informa (3:46)
Grand Line (6:03)
Vendetta In Space (4:40)
Falcon 2 (4:40)
Review: White Peach frontliner, London's Lington lays down his widest document to date. Hard and clappy through and through, this is straight-up undiluted instrumental grime for club. "Informa" brings the wave factor with its swooning synths while the string-laced "Grand Line" is much harder on the rata-tat-tat factor. The title track takes the prize for its slow-marching drama and thunder-drums ghosting from the corners before quickly retreating. "Falcon 2" brings us to a wonderfully sleazy close with big purple-funk feels on the flabby synth leads. Ready for take off?

Supernova (4:40)
Embrace (3:53)
Joyless (4:56)
Daybreak (4:30)
Review: Longtime friend of White Peach, Lofty returns to Zha's label with four more pristine oddities and odysseys. Following where he left us with 'Foretold', 'Supernova' takes us back into the Berlin style of sizzling arpeggios and crisp futurism. It's backed up by plenty more heat from across the spectrum: 'Embrace' is a UK funky style twister, 'Joyless' nods at the Hyperdub style of UK bass with a strong nod to UKG while 'Daybreak' carries that cathedral-like euphoria up a notch to halftime pastures. Immense.

Talisman (3:44)
Interlude (1:08)
The Afterlife (3:17)
Review: Immense compositions from two of Bristol's brightest sparks Modelle and Lemzley Dale. "Polybus" is an incredible opener with its almost theatrical spirals and cascades while "Majula's Curse" continues the cinematic pressure with sweeping poignant strings and a sense of drama that's shattered with gully space bass. Dig deeper for "Talisman", a mystic portal firing us straight back to 2000 BC Egypt and back on every bar and the floating, highly emotional arpeggios of "Afterlife". Genuine beauty.

Games (5:21)
Runnin' (4:58)
Thieves (5:16)
Do You Know (5:56)
Review: Let the "Games" begin! MOREOFUS returns to juice us up with his long-awaited return on White Peach. Four future-focused instrumentals, all brittle, bruising and abstract, if you were lucky to be at Outlook this year then you'll know all about these ones. "Games" takes the lead with a broken glass riff that's comprised of multiple lines all Q&Aing each in quick back-chat mode. "Runnin'" continues the chaos with a trip through a maze of eastern flutes and pipes while "Thieves" gives us a breather with a deeper vibe and a bassline that sounds like it came from 2007. Finally "Do You Know" closes with another uncompromising sound palette. Cold-yet-dramatic and set somewhere far far in the future. Game over.

So Vague (4:25)
Review: Busted! Mr K just clocked you digging through your mate's dubs with envy. He's seen you day dreaming of the perfect snare. He knows your dirty little studio secrets, he's caught you red-handed and he's written this fantastic EP to soundtrack your antics. Those classic warping grime basses on "Red Handed" set the stern scene with timeless effect before "Okoustik" plays the consummate creeper, full of sultry introspection and a killer walking bassline. Flip for the claustrophobic bass pressure and rising prang "Aro" and the theatrical grump of "So Vague", two more killer messages to add to K's growing body of work on White Peach. Don't get caught out again.

Zha - "Running VIP" (4:12)
Review: Juicy jams galore: ZHA's White Peach return with their sixth "Bits" instalment where Peach pals old and new collide with their freshest, most vitamin-enriched cuts. First up label newcomers Neffa-T and Patrick Brian get rowdy with a space-aged grime stepper "Sabertooth". All staccato fire and rubber-ball bass it sets the tone for Gundam & Jook's grimey snare-smacking hybrid "Tactical Espionage" and some obese bass ripples from Modelle, who was last spotted on the label earlier this year with the awesome "Paladins" EP. Finally ZHA makes a rare appearance with the wonked out melter "Running VIP". Yum.

Day & Age (4:45)
Ghost (4:55)
Renegade (4:21)
Review: Classical violinist / low-end-murker Opus returns to his White Peach family with this four track treat after a few exemplary outings on the likes of Chestplate and Simply Deep. "This Damn Feeling" takes the lead and sets the mood with drama. Its big boom bass and tight spine sitar twangs are followed by a full menu of ideas and explorations. "Day & Age" wriggles with that high end harmonic we all fell in love with in 2008 before twinkling arpeggios bring on the goosebumps like you'd never believe. Flip for more goodies... "Ghost" takes us to the Upside Down with its toxic waste bass and icy vocal shots before "Renegade" concludes the EP on a dank, sludgy one. This damn EP!

Tomorrow (2:45)
Review: No please, no thank you, no manners: rising Midland merker Sekko fires off a scorching four-tracker for the ever-juicy White Peach crew. Gully-minded grime beats fully-charged and fizzy, each cut is a physical head-roller: the pulsating kick drum rhythm of "No Manners", the theatrical strings and necksnap drums of "Militant", the trapped-out gun-toting iciness of "Boxes", the spacious introspection, wavey melody and elastic bass of "Tomorrow", Sekko's revealing deep layers right here. Crucial.

Sunset In Hong Kong (3:16)
Review: Excuse us while we Hiss the sky... Bristol beat sculptor Sir Hiss arrives on planet White Peach proffering handcrafted Bristolian gifts of the most luxurious form. "Rolling" melts, warps and weeps with disarming harmonics and some craft barrage from friend and previous collaborator EMZ while "Haunter" takes us for a good old fashioned cemetery picnic. Creepy, chilling, full tension and thrill, you can hear Lemzly Dale in the eerie details. An instrumental of "Rolling" can be found tucked away on the B as "Sunset In Hong Kong". Mournful and hazy, while it sounds like it was tailormade for EMZ, it also grabs you by the short and curlies on its ones, too...

Review: Taiko outings on White Peach seems to be an annual thing going right back to "Jelly Bots" in 2016. As with anything Louis Robson delivers, there's a bewitching otherworldly vein running through each track and "Miners" is no exception. The title track leads with spiralling strings that leave you feeling like you're in the eye of a dust storm. It sets us up for even more beguiling cosmic manoeuvres: "Prism" takes us out to the wild west and buries us alive while "One Of Us" uses the power of an entire brass section to unearth us again. Finally "Just Like We Used To" revives us gently with lulling strings and more space than a day out at Cape Canaveral.

Review: Dutch deepsmith TMSV has been on some superb labels in recent times - Innamind, Artikal, Cosmic Bridge and many more - but he's never been on White Peach until now, and he's celebrating in the true diverse, far-reaching style that the label encourages. Taking a laid back approach, both "Zoned Out" and "Olifant" ease on a 70 swagger with deep slouching soul while "No Soul" ups the jazz magic with a little dash of Pete Rock feel in the sample play before "Killing Season" closes on a strange warped trip where humanised tones melt, warp and mangle in ways that defy logic.

Review: Following last year's celebration of his seminal "Pulse X", White Peach return to the don's small-but-perfectly formed vaults for an equally grand take on the legendary bounce-bass 4x4 cut from 2002. Short, sharp and such a joy to mix and cut, it remains just as crisp now as it did 14 years ago. But that's not to say a few contemporisations wouldn't go amiss... Hi5Ghost retains the depth plunge bass and 808 ricochet hits, Kahn & Neek throw in all the glitches and switches on their take while Astral Black's prize bang clapper brings SMS sexy back with his sub-heavy slight jukey version. Drink it up.
