Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. Review: Back in the early 2000s, Stefan Schwander (better known these days for his Harmonious Thelonious project) released a handful of fine 12" singles as A Rocket In Dub that successfully blurred the boundaries between minimal house and dub techno. Here, one of the series' most renowned cuts, 'Rocket No. 3', is revisited. Like the 2002 original mix, the A-side version is a hypnotic, softly spun delight, with echoing organ motifs, bubbly electronics, opaque synth sounds and new spoken word snippets (provided by fellow German artist Jan Delay) gently rising above a deep, dubby bassline and sparse, shuffling tech-house beats. Over on the flip, there's a dub style 'Version' mix that takes the track further into vintage Rhythm & Sound territory.

Once again he comes at house music from a unique vantage point and mixes up the rawness of Motor City hero Omar-S with the disco dalliances of Metro Area and the deep house of Berlin. His tunes are packed with character as well as funky drum patterns such as on the seductive lo-fi house of 'Patio Protocol'. 'No Jello' is a bumping Chicago house cut with nice frayed edges and 'The Big Black Slot' is cosmic tech house with soulful heart. EPs this fresh and classy don't come along often.

Review: Acapulco Heat is a new duo from Acapulco made up of Felipe Valenzuela and new comer Ossios. They share a love of colourful shirts and making "sensual moves in the shade of palm trees" and here offer up a set of cuts designed to encourage dancefloor mindfulness. 'Intellectuelle' is a crispy tech house groove with thudding kicks and enough detail to keep the mind as locked as the heels. 'Gonna Do & Do It More Now' is a highlight on the flip - a trippy synth line buzzes about over flappy drum programming that suspends you in the groove. Review: Accented Measures is Kofi Agyeman, an Afro-German producer from Berlin now based in the UK. He started his own self titled label back in 2021 and now its third release - second on vinyl - drops with a real splash. His particular brand of club music is fulsome minimal, with fleshy basslines and smeared cosmic synths on 'Tension' making for a warm opener. The Harry Wills Ataraxia mix is much more direct and punchy, with freaky stabs and acid prickles in a busy arrangement. 'Upfront' (Like U 2 mix) is a bouncy one with feel-good and funky bass and 'PPDB' has a rotator feel with a turbocharged bassline. Serious tackle.

Review: After their last outing 'Atomic' sold out, Acid Jerks are back on Refuge with more of their 303 fuelled madness. They have a tried and tested sound by now but who will ever grow tired of ragged acid house? 'I Get To Know' has it all - the prickly acid squelch, the splintered and wooden drums and the dark and menacing vocal over the top. It's perfect warehouse music. Dutchman Alden Tyrell then roughs it up a little more with his Chicago-indebted remix and Dick Johnson adds a little bounce to the drums and layers in some slinky hi hats for a more undulating sound.

Review: Big up to the Orson label for hitting a quarter of a century of releases. Malata based artists Neil Hales aka Acidulant gets the nod and shows of his love of direct acid sounds. He has done similar on the likes of DJ Pierre's labels Jack Trax Records and Afro Acid but really hits the next level here with hard hitting and turbocharged bangers like 'Heavy Max' next to slower, more spaced out and melancholic jams like 'Butify'. Review: Taking his name from a now-submerged island in the Danube, Bucharest's hotly demanded composer Ada Kaleh prints another 12" that is sure to sell out like the others. This time, the single on the docket is Side B from his 2018 double single 'Roua Diminetti / O seara de ragaz', featuring two remixes from the likes of Norway's space-disco wizard Prins Thomas and Solid Groove's founder and Sheffield's finest Aubrey. The original single is a dark one to move to, a driving, subtle beat underpins the sensational percussion - perfect for the middle of the night. Aubrey takes things in a completely different direction, taking a far more noisy and in-your-face approach with a mysterious twist; Odd sounding percussion and synths fly in and out through the 'RMX' that give it an otherworldly feel. Review: Adam Antine is also known as Dawn Razor, a prolific producer covering all kinds of styles from bass-toting broken techno to slender minimal on labels like R&S, Otake and Baroque. Now he lands on Deepology with a masterful EP of contemporary minimal which draws on breakbeat as much as glitchy electronica and ambient to create a standout EP. The title is instructive - all the tracks carry a dusky, seasonal mood which elevates these beyond simple club tracks, even if they have more than enough presence in the rhythm section to keep a dancefloor moving. Lose yourself in the fluttering piano and murmuring pads of the title track and you'll practically feel the leaves crunching under your feet.

Best known for its hype garage sounds it heads into minimal territory here with Adelina at the buttons for the seventh in the Black Label Series. 'Outdoor' is a primo cut with judders groovers and sinewy synths demanding you dance, 'Spirit DNX' then slows down and gets all acidic and twisted and 'Double Danger' is a real cracker that fizzes with static. Spearheaded by Enzo Siracusa and now a real institution of the underground, here it looks to Admnti for three fresh new sounds. 'Vibrations' is kinetic future music that twists together wiry synths and tight tech drums into something irresistible. 'Infinite Function' is another brilliantly infectious mix of tech and dub that makes for high-speed groove-thrills and 'Original Sin' then takes a more spaced-out approach with warped acid lines. Review: Quite the multi-national talent, German-based DJ Admo makes music that pulls from all manner of regional genre variations that cover the breadth of the house spectrum. From the groovier French cuts to his love of UK vocal samples, 'A Visible Specturm' seems apropos to Admo's mission. An instant favourite for us was track three, 'Spiders', a somewhat sinister tech house jam that would be the perfect soundtrack for sneaking, complete with nostalgic distorted vocal samples that sound like they are coming out of a Wiimote and goofy percussion stings. 'The Brawl' is another great cut from this four-track, a downtempo groove for the end of the night that wouldn't feel out of place in both a dirty Amsterdam hole-in-the-wall and an early 2000s cooking show - there's something deeply nostalgic about these sounds

Review: Age of Rage aka the studio powerhouse pairing that is Dubbyman and Dan Piu is back on Sole Aspect with a third outing. The title of this one, Credo, is from the Latin word for a "firm set of beliefs and principles." It finds the duo serving up deeply soulful spirits and romantic atmospheres with dusty house beats as the vehicle. 'Open to Close' is balmy and gentle, with the dub even more warm for you to sink into. 'Fake Action' brings shuffling grooves and lush cosmic designs and 'Lover' is a smoochy closer that echoes Sade. Lovely stuff as always from this accomplished partnership.

Review: RFXN kicks off life with a new single from David Agrella which has seen early support from Ricardo Villalobos. First off he offers up his own Acid Mix of 'Perro Balearico' and it's a supple, deep and dubby track with liquid synths and prog chords that sound both retro and future all at once. The original is a more dreamy and spaced-out sound for 5 am sessions. On the flip is a more punch but still silky and warmly melodic remix from Mario Liberti before last of all, Gabriel Rai gets darker. His drums hit harder and the synths are moodier as he takes dancers down a late-night path of mystery and intrigue.

Review: Brixton-based David Agrella returns after the success of his Baby Ford-remixed 'Modulo 02', with two tracks and a nifty remix of each to boot. 'I Felt It Coming' is a heady peak time track, with Underground Resistance-style drum machine handclaps and an addictive synth hook and all the suspense and drama of a Stephen King horror tale. Domenico Rosa's remix turns that frown upside down, converting it into a perky, cheeky and altogether lighter workout that nevertheless will keep feet on the dancefloor. 'Reflexion Nocturna' (Priori remix) kicks off the B-side with fizzling dub techno stealth, subtly embellished with a smidgeon of 'Funky Drummer' breakbeat, while Agrella's original closes proceedings with head down, echo-set Leftfield-style prog house skank. Review: London-based Italian David Agrella is the man behind the Agrellomatica Records label and now for its fifth release, he has tapped up some undeniably quality names to remix the title tune from his debut Modulo EP back in 2007. Baby Ford kicks off with a deliciously deep and dubbed-out minimal house roller that is detailed with wispy chords and eerie vocalisations. Agrella himself then flips it into a rubbery 909 workout with pops and bubbles next to the leggy drums. GNMR goes for a gritty, heads down and back room techno roller and to close, NDR brings a retro techno sound with molten acid lines. All in all a very useful outing.

Review: Matias Aguayo has always been a left-of-centre sound smith. His rhythms and grooves are built from infinite intricate loops, and are often steeped in his South American heritage. That is the case again here with his vocal sounds stitched into dark wave tech grooves. 'The Tiger' is menacing and snappy, locking you into the late-night atmosphere. 'Nightshift, The Red' is more loose and dark, with freewheeling and busted-up techno drums. There is a sense of yearning in the forlorn vocal of 'Show Me What You're Feeling' that brings something different to the dance floor and lastly 'El Propio Propio' gets heavy and off-balance.

Review: It's 15 up for the ever-reliable Playedby label here as Aloe Varu aka Dan Andrei steps up for some of his cortex-twisting afterparty minimal and tech. 'Maybe Some Heat' is a slow burner that draws you into its scratchy drum loops and teases with smart fills, filter cuts and subtle chord placement. 'At The Blaumilchkanal' goes darker and deeper into a shadowy world that keeps you looking over your shoulder as distant drones snake amidst loose tambourines. It's closer 'Overtone' then seals the deal here with expertly programmed drums locking you into a meditative minimal groove.

Review: Alsi are a DJ and producer duo from Bucharest, formed by Alex Florea and Silviu Tanase who are founders of the label Presence. They inaugurate the Elements label here with the Ritmatico EP, featuring three heady cuts that will no doubt find favour on afterhours dancefloors within their local circuit and beyond. The title track on the A side is a long and infectiously druggy microhouse affair, that perfectly encapsulates knackered Sunday morning paranoia. Over on the flip, you have got the tough rolling tech house of 'Function' that's very much in the tradition of the Rominimal sound, followed by one more lean and subtle affair on the deeper tip in the form of 'Down'.

Review: The land down under seems to be really embracing the Rominimal sounds in recent times. Joining the likes of Lokomotiv and Unic is another Sydney-based label called Thinc who are into their third release, courtesy of Bucharest duo Alsi who are the founders of Presence. On the first volume of Raw Duties, you have the hypnotic and meditative polyrhythms of the title track that's geared properly for getting weird at the afterhours, as is the paranoid microhouse of "Bold" up next - mind you this one's definitely more straight ahead. Review: The first two instalments of the brand new AM/PM 12" series guarantees a level of quality to all those converts to The End. With a soon-to-be-legendary performance coming up inside the crumbling glory of the east end - the fantastic Wilton's Music Hall - alongside fellow dust botherer Janek Schaeffer, Radovan Scasascia's increasing prominence on the live circuit promises further thrills galore. Radovan continues here in the same realm as with the acclaimed 'Also' EP. The source material here still comes from a carefully selected palette of final moments and last breaths of found recordings. The arrangements let them move in and out of time, creating mesmeric chance compositions, micro-tonal disharmonies and that typical AM/PM warmth. A total of four 12" releases are scheduled building up to a CD album due for 2007. Extremely high quality as always.

Review: Given that Ricardo Villalobos was one of a handful of guest producers who featured on Oren Ambarchi's recent Hubris album - a krautrock-influenced minimalist techno exploration that also boasted contributions from Jim O'Rourke and Mark Fell, amongst others - it seems fitting that he's been roped in to provide two new remixes. The Chilean's contribution to the album was largely rhythm-based, and his two lengthy Variations - each stretched across one side of wax - promote undulating, heads-down dancefloor hypnotism above all else. Naturally, his drum programming and use of subtle stylistic shifts is as on-point as ever, with Ambarchi's original textures being manipulated into mind-altering new shapes.

Review: There's seemingly no end to the mind-blowing vaults of UK tech house titan Mark Ambrose. Even after the extensive three-volume run of reissues on Repeats, Rawax have found more of the South Coast legend's late 90s material that hasn't been reissued yet. Sharks be damned, the Cat Groove 12" is back within reach and remastered to bring the best out of the tracks. The title track is one of those artfully squashed, funk loop-riding jams that turns the heat up without any need for studio showboating - just the right ingredients. 'Floating Around' is a heady tripper crying out for the morning, while 'Hook Up' finds another soulful lick to place at the centre of a groove so crunchy it just has to come from an MPC. Hold tight for 'Warehouse Blues', which injects some nasty, pumping techno energy into the mix with a metallic bassline that comes on like Mr Fingers dipped in chrome.

Review: UK tech house legend Mark Ambrose is now back with a third volume of his The Journey series on Richard Davis' reissue label Repeat. The revered veteran crafted plenty of the genre's best and most unique sounds and you can revisit three of them now. 'Acid' is a slow, deep and meandering monster with rubbery bass and undulating 303 lines. 'The Ghoulash Monster From Outer Space' is a more dark and tribal, chunky and sci-fi sound with rich sound designs and eerie atmospheres and '5 AM' closes on a serene deep tech groove. Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear and Marcel Dettmann are just some of the names who have played these jams over the years, which is a testament to their quality.

Review: A curious new acid house release from the Berlin record label Restoration, themed after the wiles of controversial cybersecurity software mogul John McAfee. We see it as no surprise that the anti-malware expert turned exiled psychonaut has had a release fashioned after him; of course, similar figures like Edward Snowden have had the privilege of releasing with famous techno giants like Jean Michel-Jarre. Here, though, three tracks come from house and techno mainstays, not software giants: 'Someone Else' hails from The Analogue Cops and comes with a remix from DJ Sotofett, painting a dystopian picture of a future acid state. 'Amazon Crime', meanwhile, in the mode of acid, describes the ever-growing list of crimes committable against a corporate empire upon whose services we grow increasingly reliant.

Review: Few countries do minimal better than the Romanians, and it has been that way now for well over a decade. PhonicHouse1 is one of the more recent labels to emerge from the country, and this is its fourth release. It takes the form of a collaborative EP between Anas M and Farid Odibekov with a couple of tasty remixes. 'Dozhd' is first up and is a nice languid and loose tech house groove with bulbous synths and dry drums. Mikhu makes it a much fuller sound with myriad cosmic details then 'Sneg' is a pumper with farting bass sounds and snares encircling you on the dance floor. A Vern remix is filled with pent up but coy funk and bubbling arps.

Review: Aggelos Baltas aka Anatolian Weapons has been allowed access to the Sound Metaphors label in order to work his magic on some fine source material. The Greek producer flips five of them into magical minimal grooves embellished with plenty of great synth work and mystic melodies. His cherry picking of some of these 90s gems leads him to dub out, slow down, trip out and speed up the likes of High Lonesome Sound System's percussive new age dream 'Waiting For The Lights' (Tribal remix) and the chugging disco churner that is The Factory's 'TIME' (Moving Slowly mix) to make for a truly original collection.

Review: Wex publishes yet another banger, this time under their German sub-label day by day with a new offering of elegant electronica by Anderson Musik (aka Matt Anderson) who has just finished a brief stint across Europe playing some star-studded setlists in London and Barcelona. 'Go Go Gadget EP' is a chemical compound of acid house and techno, a spacious journey into the retro-futuristic mean streets. Side A features something light and easy in 'Synthesised Happiness', a song best described as sounding how a soda tastes, whilst side B dons a more industrial cloak, turning up the intensity - only slightly - on 'Bon Fire'. Make no mistake, 'Go Go Gadget' is a sugary treat across all four tracks - be prepared for the sourness though.

Review: German progressive house duo Andhim specialize in bringing out the genre's sentimental side, and their latest single 'I Love You' is a masterful case in point. Describing their sound as "super house", the pair evidently only choose the most serene and gut-punching sounds and samples going in, and 'I Love You' exemplifies this, with its knife-edge, repetitive vocal and swellingly pink chords, which recall the French house climaxes of The Paradise or Daft Punk, and/or the more recent, well-rounded post-10s uplifts of Bicep. Of course, the B-side must provide the mirror image, on which the equally powerful emotion of hatred is explored. Hatred isn't exactly a house music go-to, but the psychologist in us feels compelled to remind the reader that love and hatred, aren't binary opposites, and are closer together than we often think!

Review: Sonet's second Various Artists affair is another exploration of the deep and dark end of the minimal and tech house spectrum. Denis Andreev kicks off with a weird and wonderful exploration of hypnotic rhythms overlaid with detuned chamber music sounds and wonky strings. It's brilliantly creepy and perfect for the afters. Gruia's 'La Izvoare' then operate sin a more airy and heady space with deft synth modulations over slinky drums and snaking bass. Last of all comes the heaviest and most bumping cut of the lot from Mortalyf. 'Triple' has super smooth drum loops overlaid with futuristic drones and pepper with squelchy synth textures.

Review: This rather unique and otherworldly EP from Dan Andrei is a world all unto itself. While this is a mood conveyed by its somewhat Lovecraftian front cover, the three tracks found inside are equally rare in sound. Matter-of-fact and up-front, yet tentacular, the sonics heard on the lead track 'Ultraviolet' and the closer 'I Dream Of Shrimp' put forward a kind of alien honesty, as if our extraterrestrial visitors have absolutely no fear, and come in peace. It's no wonder this music is able to bridge gaps; it's seen the Romanian artist butt heads with the best and brightest in the international breaks and minimal scene, of late.
