As a bitingly cold English February draws to a snowy close, Ajello bring a cocktail shaped piece of summer with "Hot July." Maxi Discs has been on a steep ascent to notoriety since their birth in 2008 courtesy of their inimitable tropical house sounds. Their fourth release is no different, offering three tracks that will have you stripped off to just your underwear and sunglasses (with heating whacked up to full blast).
Italian production duo, Ajello who are friends of the burgeoning label are on hand for this release. They bring with them a highly danceable piece of feel good disco-house music. Fresh from working with Fred Ventura, Luca Roccatagliati and Fabrizio Tavernelli return with some piano-driven fusion of old school house and funky disco. Merging this sound with their Italian influences, the pair manage to blend a modern sound with an old feel, giving the track an instant classic vibe. Its sunny disposition warms up every dancefloor it reaches, the only drag being that it's not warm enough yet to have this one belting outside.
Two remixes from Marius and Pete Herbert surround the original here. Marius opens proceedings with his shinning, New York influenced remix. Reminiscent of the city's infamous Studio 54 but also keeping the European and Italian flavour, this is one for the warehouses - guaranteed to get any large, sweaty space moving. Closing the release is Maxi Discs owner, Pete Herbert who strips the track down and adds a chunky, UK style house bassline that adds a 90s style to groove, perfect for the dancefloor.
Another solid release from Maxi Discs, they seem to have mastered the art of rounding up the sort of disco and house that gets people on their feet and dancing. An exciting label to keep an eye on, the future is set to hold some big moments from Maxi Discs.
