There are a few defining elements to Andrew Bowen and Dimitrios Poumplidis, the Manchester based pair known as AnD. Firstly, they clearly enjoy operating under a guise that flummoxes most internet search engines as much as they like swapping record labels, with output on Ann Aimee, Modal Analysis, Hidden Hawaii and their own label in the past 12 months. Equal to their migratory tactics is the sheer intensity of the AnD sound, with this debut for Speedy J's reliably on-point Electric Deluxe label the latest example. Hogging the A Side, "The Jellyfish" sets the tone, with pummelling kicks and overwhelming sound design that seem destined to destroy unprepared sound systems. It's matched in the uncompromising stakes by "Dtadmat" which means the calmer sounding but nonetheless quite haywire "ICDBYC" offers some welcome respite.
