Passing the torch several generations down, Angel Olsen covers 'Something On Your Mind', the Karen Dalton folk standard that went on to bewitch solo songwriter greats like Bob Dylan. Back to back with Dalton's original recording, LITA have achieved a marvellous work of contrast on this new addition to their 7" covers series. Remarkably, the two recordings sound as timeless as each other, with the remastering job rendering both so impeccable that they could have easily originated from the same time. With Dalton's drum-backed original dealing in themes of unspoken thoughts and deeply buried, bottled-up emotion, Olsen lends a newly note-quivering, glissandoing, beatless sheen to the song. Of course, the best covers are of songs that mean a lot to the covering artist; "'Something On Your Mind' for me is about letting yourself face something that keeps setting you back,", says Olsen.
