German producer Benedikt Brachtel has previously been found collaborating with Ogris Debris amongst others, and now he steps up to City Fly with some tough rhythmic studies that will lend themselves to DJs plenty. "Humming Birds" does sport some synth work scattered in amongst the titular coos and straight-up jack drums, but even the bassline is committed to the unflinching stomp rather than anything more esoteric. Ugly Drums' "Acid Dub" of the original instantly puts a kink in those works and drops some bouncy 303 action in for good measure. "Raw Material" is all drum love, finding a hooky groove and filling it with insistent percussion for maximum body response, before Fred P throws down a punchy but typically dreamy version to smooth the EP out.
