Simon Coup's Birth Of Frequency project has gained significant traction since its beginnings back in 2012, and the artist has successfully established his own sound and vision of techno, one that keeps a foot in the minimal game and the other in the harder end of the spectrum. Here, he comes through rocking and with absolutely no nonsense for Oscar Mulero's Pole Recordings, and we're thrown headfirst into into the tenebrous waves of "The Spelling", a tune that's twisted up further into oblivion thanks to the capable hands of Zadig - the latter makes for a true-school techno bruiser. Flip to the B-side and "Gate" offers a harsh, banging set of kick drums that bounce off the corners of sketchy, 3D-like sonics, leaving Oscar Mulero to throw down a deeper, more leftfield version of the tune as a final send-off into the ether...
