Fresh from a well-received outing on long running Glaswegian techno outpost Soma, Jorden Hodgetts AKA Cleric returns to the Clergy imprint he established in 2015. He's in something of a no-nonsense mood too, with title track "Fragments of a Portrait" peppering a stomping, lo-fi techno beat with undulating, psychedelic electronic riffs and suitably creepy chords. You'll find more metallic, L.I.E.S style industrial techno heaviness in the shape of dub-flecked thumper "27 Hours", while B-side opener "The 6th Day" is deliciously alien and otherworldly in tone. That comes accompanied by a fine Wrong Assessment Remix that pits the original's horror movie electronics against a formidably forthright techno groove.
