Having just released his debut record of scorched industrial techno sonics on French imprint Unknown Precept, Damaskin issues this considerably deeper follow up on Concrete. Both original versions of "Kaona" are exercises in simmering subtlety reminiscent of Abdulla Rashim's productions; "Kaona 1" sees a pulsing acid bassline pushed forwards on a haze of hiss and minimal hi-hats, while the crunchy bassline of "Kaona 2" offers the more abrasive cut of the two. Cassegrain's remix of "Kaona 2" takes the track into more forthright club territory, firming up the groove with a meaty kick and ratcheting up the tension with a gristly synth line at its centre.
