Since that killer LP that dropped in 2015, the self-titled Khalal & Baba album, the two Wonderwheel Recordings producers have been up there with the very best in the leftfield Afro scene. Like-minded artists include the Principe mandem from Lisbon, who are also experimenting with house and Creole flavours, but these two are seriously carving their own niche with this spectacularly loose and imperceptible shade of dance music. Wonderwheel has become a veritable emporium of new and exciting strains of music, and we're proud to say that we've seen this coming since the very beginning. This new EP is an absolute bruiser, with the opening Clap! Clap! remix of "Bognya" sounding particularly alluring to us given our British heritage - what starts off as a fast-paced bass-weighted house hybrid quickly transforms into one of the wildest, most daring explosion of jungle breaks that we've heard in a long time. On the flip, the Nikitch version of "Lenke" is future tribalism at its finest, combining the duo's lust of breaks with this remixer's more two-step style. All in all, this is what you'd call a tip!
