A veteran of the Detroit electro scene, DJ Nasty has been a regular fixture on Databass Records and Motor City Electro Company in his time. Guess Who's Back sees something rather special, with three tracks originally produced between 2008-2009, and meant to be released on the late Aaron Carl's Wallshaker Records. Although Carl's passing delayed their release, they have a new home on Yo Sucka, and sound as ferocious as you'd expect from the producer. "Cruisin' Down The 8 Mile" combines Detroit futurism with breakneck electro rhythms, "Black From The Waist Down" provides a truly roof raising production, with sleek strings and urgent melodies rushing through tumbling percussion, and "Aphrodisiac" fuses funk bass and jazzy textures at a furious pace. Oktored's remix of "Cruisin' Down The 8 Mile" meanwhile offers something suitably deep to balance the original's more frenetic tendencies. Highly recommended!
