Remarkably, two decades have now passed since the release of Endtroducing, DJ Shadow's peerless debut album. In way of celebration, Island has put together this expansive, six-disc "Endtrospective" edition. The original album - an atmospheric and hugely entertaining exploration of trip-hop, break-digging and the potential of sampling - still sounds unfeasibly brilliant all these years on. It's joined by two discs of bonus material; a first, containing previously released demos and live versions, and a second with all-new remixes from contemporary producers. There's plenty to get the pulse racing here, including a John Carpenter-influenced ambient rework of "Transmissions" by Kuedo, DJ Spinn's footwork-goes-jazz remix of "What Does Your Soul Look Like", and a sparkling Hudson Mohawke version of "Midnight In A Perfect World".
