Andrew Weatherall's cultish Bird Scarer label is awoken from a two year slumber to introduce the refined production talents of Duncan Gray. Owner of the Tici Taci label, Gray's multi instrumental skills have been on display in several under-rated acts over the years (anyone remember The Sons Of Slough? That was him) and for his Bird Scarer debut, The No Safe Word EP, he delivers on the low slung sleaze count and then some. "Kick Infusion" is acid house jack dragged down to a sluggish 100bpm whilst "Electric Razor" is a searing low set techno ode to every lazy man's preferred method of shaving. "Engineer Salute" could easily be mistaken for a Tim Fairplay cut so feels right at home on Bird Scarer, whilst "Now We Eat" has probably been caned at A Love From Outer Space.
