Two great choons reissued on Jazzman's Popcorn sub label. Both are blues infused R&B (R&B as in Rhythm & Blues; we're not talking Rihanna here!) which were both originally recorded in New York for the American King label. "Every Which Kinda Way" has a thumping double bass, great backing vocals and a snappy hand clapping rhythm offset by a tenor sax solo. On the flip "Daddy Laddy" is more of the same with piano tinkled keys, swinging double bass, sleazy sax and an upfront male vocal. Recommended.
