With their passion for the prog-synth epics of Tangerine Dream and experimental ambience of Terry Riley, it's perhaps unsurprising that Emeralds are ridiculously productive. Having released an album a month (or so it seemed) between 2008 and 2010, they've slowed down a bit of late. Just To Feel Anything, their second excursion for Editions Mego, is typical of their dreamy approach, sitting somewhere between the glistening West Coast nu-Balearica of Windsurf, and the woozy, experimental synthscapes of Secret Circuit. It's an endearing sound, and one that should appeal to those who enjoyed the work of A Mountain of One and Studio.
