Farewell to Midnight by Eric Hilton is the latest of his many collaborative outings with Puma Ptah. The man known as 'the godfather of downtempo electronics' is in fine form here with contemporary roots reggae sounds drenched in soul on the Montserrat House label. The A-side is deep and drips with watery effects and rolling percussion over fat bottom ends as Puma's vocal musing bring the soul. Flip it over and things pick up with 'Front Line' which is a more buying dub groove with turning toms and organic perc next to nice melodic leads.
