Undoubtedly one of the UK's most gifted beat alchemists, Etch is on Hypercolour with a clutch of tracks which broaden the outlook from the crafty jungle he's so often associated with. 'Lazyville' makes a clear nod to the groundbreaking work of Actress, but rather than a straight rip off Etch does his own classy thing with the idea of woozy, lopsided house. 'Gaia's Mainframe' heads into fragmented electronica and 'Pluto's Groove' toys with sliced up garage bounce and sci-fi aesthetics. 'Belladonna & The Poppies' finishes things off in a beautiful display of artful synth play and low slung tough-as-you-like drums, proving you should never second guess what you'll hear on an Etch 12".
