Free marks a killer return for the Redux Records imprint, with Andy Meecham and Steve Kotey at the helm under their newly established Grand Corporation project. Collectively, the duo are best known for their work in Chicken Lips, and individually they brandish discographies that would encourage envious glances in most. The often mentioned Stateside triumvate of Detroit, Chicago and New York are referenced as influences for the Grand Corporation sound, and in the hands of Kotey and Meecham it's executed in a manner more impressive than the current swathe of throw back classicism. A real mastery of analogue bass lines is of course integral to this 12" and there are some beautiful vocal contributions from Deborah Bell that impress as much as the sleeve design and packaging.
