Interplanetary Criminal, whoever they may be, seems perfectly suited to the sort of ironic, laissez faire attitude that spews out of the E-Beamz label. The imprint has gotten a name for releasing artists who, first and foremost, make stunning house music with a distinctively raw edge, but ones who also like to take the whole underground scene with a pinch of salt. DJ Boring, DJ Playstation and DJ Longdick have all appeared on the catalogue and, if we were one day to find out that they were actually all the same two or three artists, we wouldn't be surprised. Concerning the music, however, "Intergalactic Jack" churns its 4/4 beats through subtle jungle influences and aquatic bass tones, while "Work" takes a step deeper into the analogue aesthetic with some seriously crusty drums and sharp synth work - a beauty! "Destiny" opens the flip with a surprisingly UK kind of sound, reminding us of the best of the garage days, while "Shawty" unleashes a magnetic dose of old-school hip-hop sounds in the form of rough but effective vocal samples. Some true swing in here.
