Given that his discography stretches back to 1996, it would be fair to describe L.H.A.S man and sometime Felix Dickinson collaborator Jaime Read as a "veteran". While his releases are relatively infrequent, he remains capable of producing magical music, as this first release for Golf Channel Recordings deftly proves. Warm, humid and blissfully laidback, it effortlessly blends vintage deep house, Balearica and downtempo disco influences on a quartet of yearning tracks. Highlights are plentiful, from the buzzing analogue bass, tactile pianos and stoned chords of closer "A Night In Shirley", to the Melodica-laden jazz-funk-goes-deep house shuffle of "Kaanile". Best of all, though, is opener "Is It Real What You Feel", an impeccably loved-up slow jam featuring distant vocals smothered in snuggly electric pianos.
