Pole Group founder Oscar Mulero launched the Unknown Landscapes series back in 2013, intending it to be a vehicle for DJ/producers to create atmospheric and distinctive mixes solely featuring previously unreleased tracks. For volume five, he's handed over the reigns to Argentine dark techno stalwart Jonas Kopp, who does a terrific job in squeezing 22 tracks into one moody, occasionally chilling and frequently intense CD-length journey. While there are subtle nods towards otherworldly electro, IDM and ambient, the majority of the cuts, which come from both Pole regulars and fresh signings, tend towards the thrusting, metallic and mind-altering end of the techno spectrum.
