Remarkably, some nine years have passed since the release of Ophir "Kutiman" Kutiel's debut album. This belated follow-up explores his now familiar psychededlic influences, effortlessly joining the dots between hallucinatory, '60s style rock, trippy '70s psych-rock, string-laden prog-rock, and Sly Stone style funk-rock. Along the way, Kutiel throws in distinctive African and Middle Eastern touches, giving 6AM a fittingly global feel. Sound wise, he keeps things fuzzy, distorted and analogue rich, giving the album a genuinely old fashioned feel despite its' contemporary production. With highlights coming thick and fast, it's an album that feels like a real statement of intent. Hopefully, his next set won't take nearly a decade to materialize.
