In the words of Chicagoan imprint Sonorama Discos, this two-track seven-inch singles boasts "hypnotic new tropical sounds from Mexico City". There's certainly something psychedelic and mind-altering about opener "Abrete Sesamo", which sees La Redada pepper a metallic rumba groove with wild Hammond organ solos, lo-fi synths and copious amounts of late '60s style tape hiss and funk fuzz. The band gets even wilder on the flipside, where the raucous "Jipi Juarez" joins the dots between boogaloo, heavy funk and kaleidoscopic psychedelia. The latter starts out as a heavy cut before ratcheting up the intensity throughout, largely via various percussion, guitar and saxophone solos. By the end you'll be gasping for air.
