Newcastle soul preservationists Six Nine return with another unreleased rarity. This time from Florida soul don Howard Johnson. Written by Rodney K Matthews and recorded two years before Johnson formed Niteflyte, these elusive recordings were laid down in 1975 and capture him at his youngest and rawest "Beauty" has a big soul swoon and emphatic backing harmonies while "Let Love Shine" is a little more introspective, stripped back and lofi. Listen closely and hear the seeds of a legend being planted.
