Titan of the darkest caverns of ambient culture, Lustmord brings his A-game to this soundtrack for chilling drama "First Reformed", which originally came out in 2017. Even without knowledge of the film itself, the quintessentially ominous mood cast from the first track to the last is as seductive as anything from Lustmord's extensive back catalogue (that started around 1981). It's a slow-moving study in sonic space rendering as much as an evocative dose of dread, but there's space for the odd shard of melody in just a few places. The icy refrain in "Eden" is not one to warm the heart, but it cuts through the gloom with crystalline precision.
