Mary Velo is a Berlin-based producer who has proven hard work gets you somewhere. After a slew of releases for the Gynoid techno factory and digital labels Labyrinth and Fluxus, she's landed a release on Frozen Border that includes a remix from Silent Servant. The Manhattan Project is made for unapologetic club play. The title track is a metronome-groove of kick and hi-hat that's slowly infiltrated by Mike Parker-inspired pangs of synth, while the concrete-percussive thwacks embedded into the big room lumber of "Syntax" are reminiscent of Klock or Dettmann circa 2009. On the flip is Velo's purposely engineered and thumping B-track, "Head Light", while Silent Servant's remix of "The Manhattan Project" blends the production techniques of Tropic Of Cancer with the techno stylings similar to his releases on Santiago Salazar's label Historia y Violencia.
