Beautiful Intentions CD

‘Beautiful Intentions’ is the fifth album by English singer-songwriter and former Spice Girl Melanie C, following her end of contract with Virgin. Far less commercial success followed the formation of her own Red Girl Records, but that hardly matters. An artist continuing to release the music she loves making for its own intrinsic joys (while calling out the rampant financial abuse within, and highlighting the all-out futility of, the major music industry) is enough for us. This debut for the label saw to such intrigues as ‘Next Best Superstar’, which casts a critical eye on Cool Britannia-era exploitation, among less overtly political anthems like the breakup anthem ‘Better Alone’.
