The unstoppable rise of the M_Rec Ltd imprint continues unabated, with another split release giving rise to two diverse slices of contemporary techno. Overall Severity, something of an unknown quantity in these parts, delivers the stout and sinister "1003A" with its eerie discordant synth lines, rousing drum lines and seductive pads making for just the right kind of main room peak time techno cut to win hearts and minds all over. Fabrizio Lapiana takes a more emotive approach, using rapid salvos of percussion but keeping them simmering rather than slamming, while reams of plaintive keys ring out with a palpable patience in a fine demonstration of machine soul.
