If you didn't know Patrice Scott was from Detroit, you could probably guess. You see, the Euphonium EP comes on like the soundtrack to a sci-fi tear-jerker yet to be made, all intergalactic chords, deep space pads, melancholic melodies and eyes-closed rhythms. Scott is a past master at this kind of unadulterated deepness, of course, but there's still something impressive about the beatless beauty of "B3", the cymbal-driven deep techno melancholia of "A1", and the otherworldly shuffle of "B1". All three tracks are brilliantly immersive, offering the kind of enveloping escapism that Scott does so well.
