This feels like a big release, if only for the fact that it marks the first vinyl outing from Vancouver-based cassette imprint 1080p. It features a quartet of cuts from Project Pabo's impeccable debut album, also called I Want To Believe, and should excite anyone who enjoys the warm, loose and blazed deep house sounds associated with the "Canadian Riviera". First up is the Danadana Mix of "Follow It Up", a rich and evocative fusion of jazz-funk, disco and deep house influences blessed with some nifty keys work. "Movin Out" veers further towards Pender Street Steppers style analogue deep house territory, while "Always" doffs a cap to UK garage and Detroit deep house on a spacey, bass-heavy affair. Finally, they break up the beats, reach for the space funk influences and unfurl the jaunty melodies on the superb "Why, Though?".
