Believe it or not, but Dominic Fernow's Prurient project has been circling the cassette scene since the late 1990's. The man behind other projects like Vatican Shadow has continued, at pace, to develop his main alias, however, and 2016's Unknown Rains were another wild and twisted bric-a-brac of gnarly power electronics spanning all sorts of waves. Luckily for us (or some?), Fernow has decided to give this badboy of a cassette its own vinyl reissue, leaving us with some pretty menacing noise to review here. "Let Your Mind Free (Whip The Corpse)" is a pretty terrifying affair, glitching its distorted drones like nuclear missile over the West Pacific, and "Before Rain Becomes Snow" doesn't exactly calm the waters either. On Side B, "In The Ruins Of My Brother" is a construction of eerie background fuzz with plenty of twists and back-door screams, while "Red Poppy Laughter" blasts out a non-stop fountain of gargling noises from the depths of the inferno. A classic Prurient joint.
