Regis' most recent number, The Master Side, came through below radar back in October, but left our shelves almost instantly. This is not a surprise given both its quality, and the fact that the UK techno legend only releases once every blue moon. In fact, we haven't had a Regis 12" on Blackest Ever Black for several years now, and this was arguably the perfect comeback from the dark Lord of the British underground; moreover, you'd be forgiven for mistaking this with a Downwards EP thanks to its grey-scaled colouring. Both sides to The Master Side are viciously effective 4/4 juggernauts that express the sleeker, more sombre side of techno, except that Regis has his own way of permeating the funk within his stone-cold beats and bass sounds. The Master is back, across two sides of utter heat. Warmly recommended!
