Rheinzand claimed plenty of attention with last year's self-titled album, cited by some critics among the year's finest long players. Now they're back, or rather parts of them are, having been handed over to some impressively experienced remixers to do their worst, or best, with elements from the original productions (albeit not everything here appeared on the full length record last year).
Despite some of this crop being plucked from a different part of the Rheinzand back catalogue it's very much in a similar vein to the eponymous 2020 LP. Seemingly born from a deep study of dance music's genealogy, these four tracks are disco, house music, experimental, ambient, progressive and slo-mo all rolled into one, and they all sound incredible, from the trippy Blitzzega remix of 'Mi Mundo' to the punchy, snare-topped euphoria of 'Blind' reworked by Gerd Janson.
