Rennes-based Dance Around 88 has mainly been a vehicle for label head honcho Baptiste Leterte's productions as Ringard but has branched out in recent times to entail the efforts of other artists such as Laroze and Merrick. This 12" compilation features even more promising new talent on the label starting with Signal ST and their track "No Fire No Glory" this is classic deep techno calling to mind the early sounds of Octave One or Psyance. Pascal Visardi gives us "Marabout (Sortiledge edit") which is the kind of tough NYC house grooves indebted to Kerri Chandler: we're really liking this one! On the flip there's "Hills" by Nephase: an excursion through filtered and funky disco house that only the French have a knack for, let's face it! Finally "Fallin' Down" by G2S continues on with the disco vibes on this loopy and functional tool for DJ use only!
