Frenchman Simon Aussel is Simo Cell, who appeared for Livity Sound's sister label Dnuos Ytivil last year on the rather brilliant Cellar Door / Piste Jaune 12". For his new Gliding EP, he proves that he is right at home on the Bristolian label with his blend of raw, rough and ready broken house jams fitting right in with the rest of the label's aesthetic. Starting out with the rusty shuffle of the deep and dreamy title track, the A side also presents "Obi 1" for something a bit more darker and intense; sonar blips face off with cavernous kicks and sparse, delay drenched percussion: a very paranoid experience. On the flip, the stripped and tunnelling techno tool "Away From keyboard" will appeal to a wide cross range of DJs, until he closes out this fine EP with the lush and immersive ambient journey "As Long As We Have Those Things".
