Golf Channel come correct with the second in a series of 12" re-issues of material from Dutch musician Spike Wotters, who released four LPs of privately pressed material in the early 80s. Much like the first Spike 12" on the label sat at the odder end of the music scale, "New Germany " is best described as lo-fi, hazed out synth wave, and the subsequent track "Apollo 4" is no less weird, taking on a lolloping heavily phased stoner funk rock vibe. Golf Channel tasks label mainstay DJ Nature with remixing the title track, and the New York resident turns in a brilliantly cascading revision that retains certain filmic aspects of the original whilst implementing tautly wound percussion and a turned inside out punk funk riff that makes for the best sort of mutant house there is. Word on the street is further Spike 12" reissues and remixes from Justin Vandervolgen, Gala Drop and Black Discos Abel Nagengast are on the horizon ahead of a compilation!
