For the first time in a while, the Future Sound of London have slapped on their psychedelic rock-inspired alias The Amorphous Androgynous and have offered up a brand new record. They're describing it as both a compilation (it's officially part of their legendary A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble series) and a set of remixes of their new single; in reality, it's a kaleidoscopic, mind-altering artist album (they produced or remixed every track) whose ebbing and flowing movements variously doff a cap to psychedelia, prog rock, kosmiche, funk rock and electronica. With its recurring melodic themes, countless samples and subtle stylistic shifts, it feels like a 21st century rock opera, albeit one created with a colossal cast-list of guest musicians (including one Paul Weller). Brilliantly bonkers in the best possible way.
