After an absence of some five years, The Juan Maclean and Nancy Whang return with In A Dream, their third full-length LP. While previous album The Future Will Come was a fairly angular and grinchy set, In A Dream sees the duo home in on the bouncy, piano-laden, disco and pop-tinged sound that marked out singles such as Happy House as future dancefloor classics. Whang is in particularly good form, writing excellent lyrics that fit her vocal style. MacLean, for his part, provides jaunty backing tracks that find a perfect balance between the organic feel of live instrumentation and the arpeggio-heavy throb of classic synthesizers. The result is a set of smart, attractive and addictive dance-pop tracks guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
