Altogether vinyl

From the moment you hear Austin Getz' voice on opener "Still In Motion" it's quite obvious that "Altogether" is going to be something pretty special. It's hard to believe Turnover didn't think this themselves upon listening back to what they had created, too, given this is a more aesthetically far-reaching body of work than we've been accustomed to from the band up until now. Which isn't to discredit past achievements, more an attempt to highlight just how many elements are audible here. That first track begins on a sombre, blues-inflected call to arms before opening out into a huge pop song, itself marking a big change for the troupe in question. Sensibilities that run throughout this collection, combined with a plethora of different moods, from lounge disco on "Sending Me Right Back" to "Valley Of The Moon"'s swooning shoegaze nuances and the rolling rock 'n' roll air of "Plant Sugar". An accomplished outing indeed.
