Review: Techno mainstay Marc Romboy has always made sounds that betray his love of space. He recently made that more explicit that ever with the start of a new compilation series titled Music From Space and after a fine first volume comes a second, called Dimension B. It features the music he has used to open his latest podcast and radio shows series, eight tracks in all from artists such as Thodoris Triantafillou, Til Fussman, Nicolas Masseyeff and Romboy himself. Review: Marc Romboy is a techno titan who has been serving up the goods seemingly forever. Much of it has come on his own Systematic label which is where he has commissioned this series of remixes of Music Made For Aliens. The double album is packed with new school inventions starting with Toto Chiavetta's remix of 'Intelligence' which is the sort of patient, emotive main room cut to make a devastating impact. Elsewhere the likes of Bawrut remixes 'Blanc Triangles' into a slithering and brightly coloured synth workout and An On Bast remixes 'All Worlds, All Times' into a gritty and heads-down stomper. Josh Wink shuts down with his usual style amongst many other highlights.

Review: Marseille based Rafael Cerato is known for his emotional techno sound that has been heard on top labels like Diynamic Music, Stil Vor Talent, and his very own Ritual. He's also become quite the staple on Marc Romboy's Systematic Recordings, which back in 2015 released his anthemic 'Sekater', a sublime expression in dancefloor drama which still sounds as good today. There's a 2022 Revisited version featured on here which is optimised for today's dancefloor, while the remix by Gruuv head honchos Audiojack over on the flip goes for a bouncy tech house rework.

Review: Names don't get much more titanic when it comes to techno than old school German dons Timo Maas and Marc Romboy. They join their considerable skills for a new single here which is the first of a few to come. 'Die Zeit' does everything you would expect a track from this pair to do - it has the powerful linear drums, the rumbling bass lines and the epic synth craft that lights up a vast sky above. It's a tense rollercoaster with a grand ambition and lasting impact. A Synthapella is also included on the flip for even more of that melodic intensity.

Review: The already well-travelled 'I Am a Dancer' cut that was originally produced by Marc Romboy and C.A.R. and debuted on Kompakt's acclaimed Total 21 album now undergoes some vibrant transformations with three new mixes. Marc Romboy & Sinisa Tamamovic goes first and make it into a steamy, weighty but deep and pulsing track that drips with sweat and lust. The Skatman remix is much more for the big room with its grinding low ends and epic breakdowns and Dense & Pika then bring some unstoppable and rolling waves of techno power to their version. Cheers.

Review: Six months after their first collaborative outing 'Die Zeit' in May - also on thyme Systematic label - two bonafide German techno titans have been busy in the studio once more. This time they offer up 'Der Rhythmus' on limited edition splattered vinyl and it is another timeless, terrific and peak time cut. The drums and snares are snappy as you like with distorted bass down low and suspensory arps keeping you on edge as a libidinous female vocal adds the final touches. UK duo Dense & Pika remix with a more stripped-back but not less slamming sound.

Here though he makes a grand and widescreen statement with the first release on the all-new Pilot label. It is a stylish and adventurous record with plenty of killer cuts from the downbeat hip hop opener to the deep house delights of 'Journey' via the elastic and energetic future house kicks of 'Roboflow.' Review: 90s indie bands don't come much more iconic than Garbage. They formed in 1993 and featured Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, Butch Vig and Shirley Manson. They went on to dominate the charts that decade with albums like their self-titled long player as well as Version 2.0. Now some of their best moments are all collected totters on this bumper anthology which comes as a double CD, or double gatefold yellow vinyl versions. It's got the tunes you love to sing back badly at the top of your voice as well as some other lesser-known ones. A great reminder of a great band.

Review: Argentinian producer Ffrvnco debuts his rough-n'-ready first EP for Exarde Records, 'Night Situations', which sound like just that. In other words, these are slinky, nocturnal bravings of the night air; each track evokes a rather cheeky sensibility, as if our 'Melted Discotheque' were taking place on squatted land, or our 'Systematic Action' always maintains some element of the ludic, the teenager-getting-up-to-lord-knows-what-at-night. Things only get serious by the time we reach the B2, 'Kill & Die', which, even then, keeps its sinister rictus firmly glued open, as if to query the listener, "why so serious?" Relentless, kitsch acid jams for the DJ debutante and the veteran alike.

Now he's back with a second volume of his Cosmic Step album collection which comes across two slabs of wax and includes a lovely coaster. These are disco not disco sounds with stiff synths and rugged arps over steely retro-future drum machine sounds. Kraut, wave, psych, funk and many other influences colour the tunes and help make it such a top collection.
