Review: Sugardaddy are Groove Armada's Tom Findlay and singer-songwriter Tim Hutton who has written for Ian Brown and Sugarbabes amongst many others. Sugardaddy have their dancing feet firmly in the roots of black music, but will also crossover to appeal to a contemporary clued-up pop crowd. 'Chasing My Tail' is a raunchy guitar driven stomp through a path trodden by Prince and Mylo appealing to house, electro and indie dance fans. The more contemplative sound of 'Love On The Attack' is modern soul music at its best and should pick up support from more leftfield DJs such as Gilles Peterson and Rob Da Bank as well as appeal to Groove Armada fans who loved 'At The River'. Both tracks are taken from the forthcoming album 'It's Good To Get High With Your Wife' which is released in September on TuneTribe Recordings. A summer long promotional build is scheduled for the album which is the perfect soundtrack to car stereos from Ibiza to London to Glasgow. Sugardaddy have already been given a prestigious live slot on Radio 1's Ibiza Weekend.

The latest is their tremendous Firecracker 4 EP, originally released in 2009 and perhaps one of the Edinburgh label's definitive records - just look at all those DJs that have charted it above! Review: This project will get serious attention for the inclusion of Holger Czukay from seminal 70's band Can, a perennial influence among DJ's and producers. Coming in two parts, Day and Night, both are dominated by the breathy narrative from Ursa Major (reminiscent of Patti Smith). A loose arrangement by the band evokes the road trip detailed in the song, while fans of Can won't be disappointed by the intense atmosphere created over the two songs.

Review: Deeplay Music boss man Martin Brodin launches his new MB Disco imprint with Croatian disco deity Ilija Rudman the object of some remix treatment on the inaugural release. Lifting Rudman's "See" from the Deeplay archives Brodin embellishes the track with a burning boogie strut, with overdubbed synth lines the melodic backdrop to filtered vocals and a chuggy beat. The ever mysterious Drop Out Orchestra opt for a more traditional NYC Disco flavour on their remix with low slung bass and rhythm licks in abundance amidst the glittering flourishes. With subsequent releases from the likes of Newcleus, Ray Mang and Giorgio Moroder on the horizon, Brodin's imprint is certainly one to look out for.
